Macatology: Projecting the NCAA Tournament Seeds for December 19, 2011
Here’s this week’s edition of Macatology after a quiet week around the country as most schools were in final exams. Not too much movement at the top, but there was some movement in the middle of the field. Here are the seeds this week:

Ohio State
Syracuse got a solid road win in Raleigh over North Carolina State. Duke had the entire week off, but will be back in action on Tuesday. Kentucky got back to their winning ways with a blowout win over Tennessee-Chattanooga. Ohio State won on the road at South Carolina even after losing Jared Sullinger during the game.

Xavier
North Carolina has now won three games in a row after beating Appalachian State. Louisville stay undefeated with a home win over Memphis. Baylor got pushed but was able to escape with a road victory at Brigham Young. Xavier took a bad tumble without three of their starters due to suspension in a loss to Oral Roberts.

Missouri
Connecticut came back from their break with a convincing win over Holy Cross. Kansas had the entire week off and will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Davidson. Marquette stayed unbeaten with a home win over Northern Colorado and has an intriguing game vs. LSU on Tuesday. Missouri stayed perfect with a home rout of William & Mary before their showdown with Illinois on Thursday.

Wisconsin
Pittsburgh won its eighth game in a row with a home win over South Carolina State. Michigan has now won four games in a row after a blowout win over Alabama A&M on Saturday. Florida won its third in a row and got a good solid win over Texas A&M at a neutral site. Wisconsin had the weekend off and won’t play again until this coming Friday against Mississippi Valley State.

Georgetown
Michigan State
Stanford continues to play well, winning their fourth in a row beating San Diego. Seton Hall got a big test, but was able to get by Mercer on Sunday for its ninth victory. Georgetown moves up a line after winning their seventh in a row over American, but they have an interesting rematch with Memphis on Thursday, after beating them in overtime in Maui. Michigan State remains on a roll with their ninth win in a row at home over Bowling Green.

Illinois
Indiana continues its rise up the seed lines after another good win, this time over Notre Dame in Indianapolis. California has won three in a row, the latest a nice home win over Weber State. Mississippi State is now tied for most wins in the nation at 12 after getting a road win over Detroit on Saturday. Illinois slips down a line after suffering their first loss of the year at home to UNLV.

Vanderbilt
Gonzaga
Minnesota had the weekend off and get back at it Thursday hosting North Dakota State. UNLV got another impressive win, this one on the road at previously unbeaten Illinois. Vanderbilt has fallen after another loss, this time at home to Indiana State. Gonzaga won its second in a row, beating Arizona on Saturday and they’ll host Butler on Tuesday.

Alabama
Northern Iowa had the entire week off and will get back in action on Monday. Virginia got a good road win on the west coast over Oregon for their seventh win in a row. Arizona drops a line after losing on the road to Gonzaga. Alabama is struggling a little bit right now after losing to Kansas State and have to face Oklahoma State on Wednesday.

Virginia Tech has now won three games in a row, the latest a home blowout of Campbell. Memphis continues to struggle, losing its second game in a row at Louisville on Saturday. Saint Louis won its 10th game of the season, shutting down Alabama State over the weekend. Dayton won their third game in a row beating Florida International, but has a big time test playing Seton Hall on Wednesday.

Purdue
Harvard had the entire week off and will be back in action Thursday against Florida Atlantic. Creighton got back on the winning track beating Houston Baptist, but have to play at Tulsa on Monday. Wichita State has now won six in a row after a blowout of Chicago State. Purdue continues to have an up and down season, losing to Butler in Indianapolis on Saturday.

Oklahoma
Murray State continues to impress after they stayed undefeated with a home win over Arkansas State. Mississippi slips after losing on the road at Southern Mississippi on Saturday. St. Joseph’s has won three in a row and got a good Big 5 win over Villanova last weekend. Oklahoma has now won four in a row after a home win over Houston.

Indiana State
Florida State won their third straight with a home win over Loyola Marymount. St. Mary’s won its sixth game in a row at home on Saturday over Bethune-Cookman. Northwestern already has 10 wins on the season after beating Eastern Illinois at home. West Virginia has won three in a row, the latest over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi over the weekend. Texas A&M drops down after having a bad day down south with a loss to Florida. Indiana State got a very impressive road win in Nashville over Vanderbilt.

Cleveland State
Nevada has now won five games in a row with a blowout win over California-Riverside. Ohio is now 9-1 after an impressive road win at Wright State. Virginia Commonwealth has won 4 in a row, including their conference opener over UNC-Wilmington. Cleveland State had the entire week off, but starts the week at South Florida.

Denver
College of Charleston continued its win streak with a narrow victory over rival Charleston Southern. Iona continues to play tough teams on the road and they keep winning, evidenced by a one point win at Vermont over the weekend. Weber State had a stumble last week with a blowout road loss to California. Denver continues to impress as they have won eight of the first 10 capped by a home win over Boise State last Saturday.

Albany
Lehigh won its third game in a row with a home victory over Arcadia. Cal Poly continued its good start with a big road victory at Fresno State. Lamar has now won four in a row with a road win at Rice on Saturday. Albany lost a tough road game to Cornell by three points over the weekend.

Norfolk State had a rough day on Sunday getting blow out at Illinois State. Alabama A&M also had a bad road loss, getting blow out at Michigan. Robert Morris got back on the winning track with a home win over Louisiana-Lafayette. Oakland got a good road victory beating Valparaiso by two. Belmont suffered a close five point road loss to Miami (Ohio). Coastal Carolina has now won four games in a row, their latest a big home win over Lynchburg.
