Ohio State Football Recruiting 2012: The Buckeyes' Top 5 Uncommitted Targets
With the regular season coming to a close and bowl games only left to play, these next few months will be focused on recruiting. Where will some of the top players in the country end up and which teams will fill their needs with future stars?
The Ohio State University already has one of the most talented teams in the country and one of the top recruiting classes this year. But you can always do better and want better for your program. Especially with Urban Meyer running the show.
With a ton of talented players already committed, here are the top five players that are also considering becoming a Buckeye.
RB Cyrus Jones
1 of 5Ohio State doesn't really need another running back, considering they already have Warren Ball and Brionte Dunn. But Jones can play running back, wide receiver or cornerback.
With his small 5'8", 185-pound frame, he'd probably end up playing receiver. He is very athletic and very fast. He could develop into a Percy Harvin-type player for Urban Meyer and even see some time on special teams. Whichever team he decides to play for, they'll have a versatile player that will compete for a starting position from day one.
Jones also as offers from Alabama, Auburn, Penn State and Notre Dame, among others.
DE Noah Spence
2 of 5Defensive end Noah Spence has an offer from nearly every major program, but if he commits to Ohio State, they'd instantly become a better team. At 6'3", 240 pounds, he is extremely fast, has an excellent motor and is a fantastic athlete.
He finished his junior year with over 100 tackles, 22 sacks and nine forced fumbles.
The Ohio State Buckeyes and Urban Meyer are really pushing hard for Spence, and he will visit them this weekend.
OLB Ifeadi Odenigbo
3 of 5Ohio State could use some depth at the linebacker position and Odenigbo would be the perfect player to add to that.
He is very fast, athletic and has as much upside as any player in the country. At 6'5", 217 pounds, he is the perfect size for the linebacker position but with his explosiveness he could switch to defensive end if he bulks up a bit.
With his athletic ability, there is so much teams can do with him.
He has narrowed his list down to Stanford, Ohio State, Northwestern and Notre Dame.
WR Dorial Green-Beckham
4 of 5So what the Buckeyes already have commitments from four other wide receivers this season. None are as explosive as this one or have the ridiculous upside that Green-Beckham has.
The 5-star wideout is the ultimate deep threat and is extremely dangerous at racking up yards after the catch. What makes Green-Beckham so valuable is his size at a ridiculous 6'6", 220 pounds.
Whichever school lands this playmaker will have hit the jackpot.
The Buckeyes would not mind at all if it's them.
OT Jordan Diamond
5 of 5This is another big fish that Urban Meyer should try to reel in.
Jordan Diamond is one of the top offensive tackles in this year's class and would be a great fit, considering the Buckeyes haven't landed one yet. He is extremely aggressive and really knows how to use his 6'6", 290-pound frame to his advantage.
He recently had his first official visit with the Buckeyes are really enjoyed himself.
