Florida State Football Recruiting 2012: Seminoles' Top 5 Uncommitted Targets
With the regular season coming to a close and bowl games only left to play, these next few months will be focused on recruiting. Where will some of the top players in the country end up and which teams will fill their needs with future stars?
The Florida State Seminoles already have one of the most talented teams in the country and one of the top recruiting classes this year. But you can always do better and want better for your program.
With a ton of talented players already committed, here are the top five players that are also considering becoming a Seminole.
OLB Kwon Alexander
1 of 5Florida State already has a great outside linebacker in Markuss Eligwe but adding a 5-star recruit to that list wouldn't hurt.
Alexander is a very tough kid who makes sure you feel it when he hits you. He has great closing speed and is very good at making tackles in the open field. He's one of those players that could make an impact as soon as he steps on campus.
He also has offers from Alabama, Auburn, LSU and Florida State, among others.
WR Stefon Diggs
2 of 5The Seminoles could use a top wide receiver and playmaker. Stefon Diggs would be the perfect fit for this team.
The best way to describe Diggs is that he's an athlete. He has fantastic field vision and speed that very few people can match. He could play either wide receiver or running back. With his speed, he'll likely be used in special teams as well.
Diggs was expected to join the Florida Gators but with Charlie Weis leaving for Kansas, he may decide to join another Florida school instead.
DT Eddie Goldman
3 of 5Florida State already has commitments from two defensive tackles in Justin Shanks and Dalvon Stucky. But none of those players have the upside that Goldman has.
This mammoth human being will be the centerpiece to any great defensive line.
He may be 6'4", 315 pounds but you wouldn't know that if you watched him on film. He is very quick and can hold his own against double-teams. I guess when you face them as much as he does, you kind of get used to it.
The Seminoles have competition with Miami, Alabama, Auburn and LSU, among other schools.
CB Tracy Howard
4 of 5The Seminoles haven't yet received a commitment from a cornerback, but that really won't matter if they're able to land 5-star recruit Tracy Howard.
He has a great motor and has the ability to become one of the top coverage corners in all of college football. He's not a great tackler but when he shuts down wide receivers like this guy, who cares? Wherever Howard decides to go, he'll have a chance to play from day one.
Many expect him to stay in the state of Florida but the problem is that he has offers from Florida, Miami and Florida State. Alabama and LSU are in the mix as well.
OT Andrus Peat
5 of 5The Seminoles could really use some offensive line depth with only one lineman committed so far to the school. If they could land 5-star recruit Andrus Peat, they'll be in a lot better shape.
Peat is a great athlete at 6'6", 280 pounds and is a tremendous pass-blocker. He will develop into a great player and one of the top offensive linemen in the country.
He also has offers from Alabama, Miami, Notre Dame and has shown a lot of interest in Stanford.
