Week 15 Fantasy Football Rankings: Quarterbacks with the Easiest Matchups

Zachary D. RymerDec 16, 2011

If there's one thing fantasy owners have in common with real-life owners, it's that they need their starting quarterbacks to come up big in the playoffs.

The difference right now is that the playoffs are already here for fantasy owners. They need their quarterbacks to produce, lest they be bounced out of the playoffs and be left open to merciless mockery from leaguemates.

I have bad news for some of you: Your quarterbacks are not guaranteed to put up points.

However, some of you can rest easy. If you own one of the five quarterbacks listed below, you're good. All they have to do is exploit some easy matchups.

5. Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys

People are pretty down on the Cowboys at the moment, but nobody should be down on Tony Romo. In the last five weeks, he's been nothing short of brilliant.

You can expect Romo to be brilliant once again against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They have the league's No. 27 pass defense, and matters are made worse by the fact that the Bucs have no pass rush to speak of. A quarterback as good and with as many weapons as Romo should have no trouble picking the Bucs apart.

This doesn't mean the Cowboys are going to win the game, mind you. But hey, as long as you win yours, who cares what the Cowboys do?

4. Matt Moore, Miami Dolphins

Matt Moore suffered a concussion in Week 14, but Ben Volin of The Palm Beach Post tweeted the other day that Moore is expected to start against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

While you do have to worry about how Moore will bounce back from his concussion, the good news is that this matchup is quite good. Since Week 10, the Bills have given up 13 touchdown passes and have intercepted just one pass.

Picking passes off was what the Bills' defense did best early in the year. They're not doing that any more, and the results speak for themselves. Consider Moore a secret weapon starter, and make sure to laugh when he buries your opponent.

3. Rex Grossman, Washington Redskins

He hasn't been great, but Rex Grossman has been surprisingly decent in the last four weeks, throwing six touchdowns and five interceptions. That's pretty good by traditional Rex Grossman standards.

If that doesn't excite you, Grossman's matchup against the New York Giants should. The Giants' defense has been weak all season, and in the least three weeks it's given up over 300 yards passing and four touchdowns to each quarterback it has faced.

Grossman won't be that good, but the Giants' defense is one that even he can handle. He'll be another sneak-attack weapon.

2. Tim Tebow, Denver Broncos

Don't look now, but Tim Tebow is starting to get pretty good at this whole passing thing. His yardage totals have increased in each of the last four weeks, and he even had one game in which he posted a QB rating of better than 149.

That was against the Minnesota Vikings, and that performance should make you excited about Tebow's prospects against the New England Patriots. Tebow was able to find the soft spots in Minnesota's bad secondary, so he will presumably find them in New England's bad secondary.

He'll also tack on a few rushing yards, as is his custom.

All he does is win and score fantasy points. Maybe he really is sent from above...

1. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints

You know how I mentioned the Vikings have a bad secondary?

Well, this week it gets to face Drew Brees, he of the record-setting pace.

Since Week 5, the Vikings have intercepted no passes. In that same time, they have allowed 20 touchdown passes.

Since Week 10, Brees has thrown 11 touchdown passes and zero interceptions.

The big picture is too awesome to comprehend. I envy you, oh glorious Drew Brees owner.
