2011 Bowl Predictions: Top 5 Games You Simply Can't Miss
This year's bowl games have some matches that you simply cannot miss. However, you cannot find a way to watch every bowl game this year. It's why I have hand selected five games that you must do everything in your power to watch them.
However, I will save you some time clicking through these five games by telling you that these games did not make the list.
The BBVA Compass Bowl featuring Pitt vs. SMU. The Gildan New Mexico Bowl featuring Wyoming vs. Temple. And, the Belk Bowl featuring North Carolina State vs. Louisville.
There, I saved you from three games that you should do everything in your power to avoid.
Rose Bowl: Oregon vs. Wisconsin
1 of 5This year's Rose Bowl will be the exact opposite of last year's game that featured the Wisconsin Badgers.
Last year, Wisconsin was involved in a defensive battle that saw the Badgers lose, 21-19. Oregon and Wisconsin averaged more than 40 points per game this year; so we should see an onslaught of point from two of the highest scoring offenses in college football.
Both teams are led by their running backs, with Oregon being carried by LaMichael James and Wisconsin by Montee Ball.
This game will be fun to watch, with both teams trying to out do each other on every offensive drive.
Outback Bowl: Michigan State vs. Georgia
2 of 5Michigan State fans should not be so disappointed that their team is heading to the Outback Bowl to face the Georgia Bulldogs.
Both of these teams had their regular seasons come to a painful ending by losing in their conference championship games. However, both of these teams are very similar outside of losing in the Big Ten and SEC championships.
The Spartans and the Bulldogs both bring offenses that scored 30 or more points per game, while only allowing teams to score under 20 points per game.
This should be a great battle between two teams that were very close at making a BCS bowl game this year.
GoDaddy.com Bowl: Northern Illinois vs. Arkansas State
3 of 5You might be wondering, why is a bowl game featuring the Mid-American Conference champion versus the Sun Belt Conference champion a game that I should watch?
It's because if these two teams played in a major BCS conference, this match would make for an insane BCS bowl game.
Both of these teams come into the GoDaddy.com Bowl with offenses that averaged over 30 points per game. However, Arkansas State has the better defense compared to Northern Illinois, with the Red Wolves only giving up 19 points per game compared to the Huskies' 31.
This is the last bowl game before the BCS National Title Game, and it will be the perfect warm-up game to get you fired up for LSU vs. Alabama, Part II.
Tostitos Fiesta Bowl: Stanford vs. Oklahoma State
4 of 5The Fiesta Bowl will be about two men, as they go head-to-head to impress NFL draft scouts who will be watching.
We are talking about Stanford's quarterback Andrew Luck and Oklahoma State's wide receiver Justin Blackmon.
Both players will be high first-round draft picks in this year's draft. However, Luck is getting all of the publicity as the no-brainer first pick.
What would happen if Blackmon has a Fiesta Bowl performance where he catches 14 passes for 250 yards and scores four touchdowns? Would people then start to say the Indianapolis Colts should select him with their first pick?
Regardless of that subplot, this game is between two of the best passing attacks in college football. They will put on a great show with a lot of points being scored between both teams.
Allstate BCS National Championship: LSU vs. Alabama
5 of 5You cannot miss this game because it's the BCS National Championship. Even if you disagree that these two teams should not be playing in this game for whatever your reasons have, you must watch to see who the champion of college football is.
For the sake of those of you who hate games that are decided by field goals, hopefully this time around Alabama and LSU can score one touchdown.
This will be another tightly contested game, with the ending of the game coming down to a strong defensive stand by either LSU or Alabama.
No matter if this game is another 9-6 defensive struggle or a 28-27 offensive shootout, you will be talking about this game for a very long time as one of the best BCS National Championship games ever.
