Week 15 NFL Picks: Projecting Biggest Blowouts of Weekend

Wes ODonnellDec 15, 2011

Of 16 NFL games this weekend, seven of them have spreads of seven points or more. The real challenge is finding which ones are going to be the biggest blowouts of all.

There are bound to be some covers by underdogs, but there are also bound to be some blowouts.

Some of the projected close games will erupt, and picking those is all the sweeter.

Here are the biggest projected blowouts of the weekend.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville has been able to keep some games close and even win some despite the poor play of Blaine Gabbert.

Maurice Jones-Drew could run for 150 yards and two touchdowns tonight and the Falcons would still beat up on the Jaguars.

Atlanta is in the middle of a wild NFC Wild Card race and need to take advantage of every opportunity they get to play in the Georgia Dome.

Next week, they have to travel to New Orleans, so expect the Falcons to come out hard tonight.

Dallas Cowboys at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay is simply a bad football team.

Enough is enough with even pretending like they'll do something here and there—they are a long way from the 10-6 team they were last season.

Dallas is in do-or-die mode. They need to win these next two games and then beat the Giants in the MetLife Stadium in the season finale to make the postseason.

Tony Romo and the Cowboys are going to be out for blood this week, and they have the defense that can handle Tampa Bay's rushing attack.

Josh Freeman doesn't scare Dallas at all, and DeMarcus Ware will be in the backfield all day.

Expect a Cowboys blowout here.

Green Bay Packers at Kansas City Chiefs

Kyle Orton will start for the Chiefs this week against the undefeated Packers. What we know about Kyle Orton is that he has no trouble throwing the football, but the Packers defense leads the league in takeaways.

Expect the Packers to blow the Chiefs out of the water early and then widen the margin as the game continues by forcing turnovers out of a quarterback who'll never quite get it.

He can throw for a lot of yards, but he won't win games, and he's in trouble against a Packers pass-rush/secondary that loves to create havoc.

Oh, and there's that dude Aaron Rodgers slinging passes on the other side.
