Green Bay Packers: Why Aaron Rodgers Will Never Fully Replace Brett Favre
For 16 years, fans of the Green Bay Packers were in an extremely committed relationship. It started in 1992, and upon first sight, we could tell that there was something special.
Our relationship had its ups-and-downs. There was crying and laughing, winning and losing, but most importantly, there was the feeling of trust and safety.
At the time, we thought that this relationship would have a fairy-tale ending. Then, almost suddenly, the relationship was over. The decision was made for us, and the person who ultimately made the decision said it was for the best.

And you know what, we believed him. We believed that our new relationship was going to be fantastic. It hasn't disappointed either. In fact, I think it would be safe to say that for the past year, our relationship has been absolutely perfect.
But before our perfect relationship became perfect, there was the betrayal. At first, it wasn't so bad. Sure, it wasn't easy watching him back on the playing field, but at least he was in a different part of the world, and the chances of us running into him were very rare.
However, that wasn't enough, and he seemed destined to rip our hearts out even more. Not only did he make another comeback, but he made it with one of our ultimate nemesis. He didn't just start a relationship with anyone, he started it with someone that we hated most.
To be honest, that hurt. That really hurt.
And even though we were in a new, fantastic relationship, we still couldn't completely shake the thought of that 16-year fling. When we saw him on the field, wearing those godawful purple colors, no matter how badly we wanted to erase him from our memories, we simply couldn't.
We'd find ourselves looking back at old tapes of us together. We'd remember how much pure joy we'd had together. As bad as we want to forget, we can't. There will always be that little piece of our relationship together with us forever.
No matter how good Aaron Rodgers is, and will continue to be, he will never be able to fully replace Brett Favre in our hearts.
