January Transfer Window: 10 Craziest Rumours We've Heard so Far
Not every transfer rumour turns out to be true, but some are just plain ridiculous.
We've got 10 of those rumours right here. When the transfer window opens back up in January, some of these players could be on the move. But they won't be going where these stories claim they're going.
Why not? See for yourself and you'll agree.
David Villa to Aston Villa
1 of 10So David Villa is facing some competition for a spot in Barcelona's first XI.
That doesn't mean he's going to leave the club.
And even if he does, would he really trade Barcelona for Aston Villa?
Where would you rather be? On the bench in Barcelona, or playing in Birmingham?
Sorry, Villa fans. It ain't going to happen.
David Villa to Liverpool
2 of 10OK, so this is a little more realistic.
Liverpool are a historic club, and they have some world-class players.
But David Villa isn't going to Liverpool. Seriously, he isn't leaving Barcelona.
David Villa to Chelsea for Fernando Torres
3 of 10This is the most realistic of the unholy trinity of David Villa rumours.
Since being bought by Roman Abramovich, Chelsea always have a load of cash to spend. And they've used it to bring world-class players to London.
But it's still not happening. Why would Barca want Fernando Torres? That guy has been out of sorts for months.
Again, it's completely unrealistic to think David Villa would leave Barcelona at this point.
Not happening.
Wayne Rooney to Anywhere
7 of 10According to unspecified "reports" passed along here, Real Madrid are planning a £70 million move for Manchester United's Wayne Rooney.
Yeah, right.
Does anyone actually believe that?
Didier Drogba to AC Milan
8 of 10Leave it to The Sun. They come up with the most comical ideas.
They know Drogba is 33, right?
Kolo Toure Back to Arsenal
9 of 10Manchester City has become a haven for former Arsenal players in recent seasons.
A few examples: Samir Nasri, Patrick Vieira, Emmanuel Adebayor and Kolo Toure.
Anyone really believe that would happen?
Frank Lampard to Real Madrid
10 of 10Finally, here's another gem from The Sun.
Frank Lampard to Real Madrid for a reunion with Jose Mourinho.
Commence laughing.
