Week 15 Waiver Wire: Felix Jones and Others You Must Add

Andrea HangstDec 12, 2011

In terms of fantasy impact, the season-ending ankle fracture suffered by Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray is easily the most devastating of the week.

It seems that with every week, another stud running back suffers a significant injury that derails what was a likely playoff run for a number of fantasy GMs.

That's not good news for you if you're a Murray owner because viable fantasy running backs are hard to come by at this late point in the season. But that doesn't mean you can't find value on the waiver wire. Here are four running backs worth adding to your roster this week.

Felix Jones, Dallas Cowboys (at Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

1 of 4

Owned in just 60 percent of Yahoo! leagues, Dallas Cowboys running back Felix Jones is your best bet for a waiver-wire replacement for DeMarco Murray. As long as he can stay healthy, he will be Dallas' starting rusher for the rest of the season and should see up to 25 touches per game.

Taking over in the first quarter of the team's Week 14 game against the New York Giants, Jones had 106 yards on 16 carries and six catches for 31 yards. In his nine games this season, Jones has rushed 91 times for 415 yards and a touchdown and has caught 23 passes for 151 yards.

The Cowboys have a short week ahead, taking on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and their 27th-ranked defense on Saturday night. The Bucs are in a bad way, and the Cowboys need every win they can get if they want to hope to see the postseason.

It's a great opportunity for Jones to make a huge impact for your team. Now that the fantasy playoffs have likely started in your league, you're going to need someone to make up for Murray's production if you're one of his owners. Do everything in your power to grab Jones this week if he's available.

Ryan Grant, Green Bay Packers (at Kansas City Chiefs)

2 of 4

Green Bay Packers running back Ryan Grant is a risky add for Week 15 simply because he won't see the kind of success he had in Week 14 should the injured James Starks return to take on the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday.

However, if the Packers choose to sit Starks again to get him as healthy as possible for the postseason, then you should grab Grant off the waiver wire.

Grant rushed 10 times for 85 yards and two touchdowns and caught one 13-yard pass in his team's rout of the Oakland Raiders in Week 14. On the year, Grant has 102 carries for 401 yards and two scores, and he's caught 13 passes for 119 yards.

The Chiefs defense is in the middle of the pack but shouldn't have much success against Green Bay's high-powered offense on Sunday. If Grant gets the start, he should have a nice day for both his team and yours.

Donald Brown, Indianapolis Colts (vs. Tennessee Titans)

3 of 4

While Indianapolis Colts running back Donald Brown is clearly a risky fantasy football starter, those dealing with injuries at the position headed into the playoffs simply need someone guaranteed to get some touches, and Brown is just that guy.

Brown is beholden to the defenses he faces now that the Colts cannot produce anything worthwhile on offense. This is the main reason why he only managed 28 yards on nine carries and a single reception for a loss of six yards against the Baltimore Ravens' league-leading defense.

Things will be a bit easier in Week 15 against the Tennessee Titans, who are allowing an average of 121.8 rushing yards per game this season. Though Brown might not be capable of producing on a weekly basis, he's a great add and start for Week 15.

Keiland Williams, Detroit Lions (at Oakland Raiders)

4 of 4

If you're in a desperate situation and in a deeper league where the waiver-wire options are thin at best, then it's possible your best option for Week 15 is Detroit Lions running back Keiland Williams.

Though I don't recommend picking Williams up if you're in a 10-team (or even 12-team) league, for those in need, he might be worth your time.

Williams rushed 12 times for 43 yards and caught two passes for 17 yards in his team's Week 14 win over the Minnesota Vikings while starter Maurice Morris was limited with a chest injury.

While Morris' injury does not appear serious and should not sideline him for Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders, Morris will still be spelled by the rookie Williams, and it just might be enough to add a handful of points to your team's bottom line.

On the year, Williams has 57 rushes for 195 yards and two touchdowns and has caught eight passes for 62 yards. He's about the riskiest add you can imagine for this week, but if you're running on fumes and your waiver wire is bare, then give Williams a look.
