Robert Griffin III's Heisman Trophy Speech: Watch the Video
The college football world was made aware that Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III collects super hero socks and plays with action figure toys.
On Saturday night, Griffin received a new toy to add his collection, but this one weighs nearly 25 pounds and has plenty of history attached to it.
In front of a packed house in New York City, Griffin III became the first player in Baylor's program history to win the Heisman Trophy.
Through plenty of interviews this season, we have been introduced to what a well-spoken individual Griffin is. He speaks with confidence and knowledge, which makes it no surprise that Griffin gave a solid speech when he was awarded the prestigious award Saturday night.
After Chris Fowler made Griffin show off his Superman socks earlier in the evening, Griffin started off his speech by cracking a joke, saying that "now that my socks are out there, I got nothing to lose, right?"
He then followed that up with a quote that truly speaks volumes to the season he has had this year at Baylor.
"This moment right here is unbelievably believable," he said. "It's unbelievable because in the moment we're all amazed when great things happen. But it's believable because great things don't happen without hard work."
Heading into this season, this award was Andrew Luck's to lose. And while Luck did have a fantastic season, Griffin was simply better.
Griffin led a program from irrelevance to relevance, and he built up an impressive highlight reel while doing so. He holds over 40 of the program's records, and if he does choose to go to the NFL after this season, there is no doubt that he has everything needed to have a successful professional career.
His new toy is evidence of that.
