UFC 140 Results: Jake Hecht Gains Believers with TKO of Rich Attonito
It didn't take long for Jake Hecht to make an impression in the UFC.
With a 10-2 career record headed into his UFC debut on Saturday, the 27-year-old also brought momentum, winning his last three fights.
Then, in UFC 140, Hecht showed he belonged on the big stage.
Coming into his fight with Rich Attonito, five of Hecht's 10 victories had come via submission. But Hecht showed a balanced side on Saturday, scoring a TKO in the second round after a ground-and-pound.
Hecht, as you may remember, defeated Ultimate Fighter veteran Charlie Rader back in February 2010. After losing to Che Mills via unanimous decision, he's now won his last four fights, including against Eddie Larrea, Craig White and Michele Verginelli.
Said Hecht, via MMAJunkie.com:
""I've lost a fight like that before when I fought UFC vet Che Mills. He did the same exact thing to me. Gotta learn from your losses."
"
As for Attonito, he had some good moments in the first round that gave him the round in most people's eyes, but the second round showed how quickly things can change. Attonito tried to take the fight to the mat again, but Hecht was ready, unloading elbows and punches until the fight was stopped.
Attonito was coming off a UFC on Versus 4 decision victory over Daniel Roberts, fighting to a 3-1 UFC record and 5-1 record in his past six fights.
Hecht looks to be yet another respectable fighter in the competitive world of the UFC.
