View from Kingsmeadow, Volume 64: Wimbledon focuses on League Two
With the only cup tournaments being the London and Surrey Senior Cups, Terry Brown's AFC Wimbledon had more time to focus on Football League Two action when they took on Accrington Stanley at Kingsmeadow.
“This week’s training included a midweek friendly against Millwall at our training ground," Brown told reporters. "Unfortunately, Kieran Djilali picked up a hamstring injury which will rule him out for three weeks. This is quite a set back as disappointingly the injury is to the other leg and not the one he first injured. On a positive note Mat Mitchel-King came through a good 90 minutes and will be available for selection tomorrow.

"We will however be without the services of Christian Jolley, Rashid Yussuff, Brett Johnson and Kieran Djilali."
Last season, Accrington finished fifth in the Football League Two and were eliminated from promotion in the playoffs. Many of the top scorers from that 2010-11 side—Jimmy Ryan, Sean McConville, Phil Edwards and Terry Gornell—have moved on.
This year, Padraig Amond leads Stanley in scoring with four league goals. Charlie Barnett and Luke Joyce lead Accrington in assists with four apiece.
The absence of those players mentioned by Brown were felt early and often.
Accrington took an early lead in the third minute thanks to a howler from Wimbledon goalkeeper Seb Brown and team captain Jamie Stuart. After Amond opened up the scoring, Stanley doubled their advantage in the 24th minute thanks to Craig Lindfield.
That would actually be all Accrington needed, as they earned their first road victory since January, a 2-0 win over the Dons.
Up next for Wimbledon is a match with Rotherham United. Kickoff at the Don Valley Stadium is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 17 at 7 a.m. PT/10 a.m. ET.
