Green Bay Packers: Dynasty and Dominance over NFL Has Begun

Matt SteinDec 11, 2011

The Green Bay Packers are 12-0 on the season, and dating back to last year, they have won 18 straight games. That type of dominance in today's game is virtually unheard of.

Yet the Packers have been, without a doubt, the most dominating team in football for the past year. In fact, no team even comes close to them.

It would be safe to say that the official Packers' dynasty has begun.

Today we'll look at five reasons why Green Bay's dynasty and dominance over the NFL has begun.

Aaron Rodgers

1 of 5

This is where it all begins with the Green Bay Packers.

If you look at past NFL dynasties, they all had a stunning quarterback.

Guys like Steve Young, Joe Montana and Tom Brady are all considered the best of the best at their position.

Right now, no one is even close to being on the same level as Aaron Rodgers. He is playing at such a high level that the rest of the league is simply left staring up at him.

As long as Rodgers stays healthy and continues his dominance, the Packers should remain the best team in the NFL.

Youth

One giant reason the Green Bay Packers have just begun their dominance over the NFL is because of their youth.

At key positions across the field, Green Bay has young players who are either just entering their prime or haven't even hit their true potential yet.

Guys like Aaron Rodgers, Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, James Starks, B.J. Raji, Clay Matthews and Morgan Burnett are all exceptional—and are all young.

What is even more impressive is that there are even more players waiting in the wings. Randall Cobb, especially, has shown flashes of greatness.

There is literally so much young talent on this team that it is almost ridiculous to think about.

If the young players on this team continue to grow and develop together, the Packers haven't even gotten close to their true potential as a team.

Drafting Ability

3 of 5

There are few teams in the NFL that draft as well and as smart as the Green Bay Packers.

It all starts with Ted Thompson, who has proven to be as savvy in the draft as they come.

For the past seven years, Thompson has done a great job through the draft at reloading the Packers' roster will great talent.

Whether it is first-round players like Clay Matthews or B.J. Raji or late-round steals like Josh Sitton and Desmond Bishop, Thompson finds elite talent throughout the draft.

With Thompson at the helm, it is likely that the Packers will continue to bring in top young talent to keep their roster stacked for years and years.

Experience

4 of 5

The Green Bay Packers are currently on a 19-game winning streak, and it doesn't look to be stopping anytime soon.

They've already won the Super Bowl.

They've faced adversity and come out on top.

There aren't many things that the Packers haven't done during their current winning streak.

The experience that they currently have will go a long way in establishing their dominance over the NFL. They have players and coaches who know exactly what to do in pressure situations.

When other teams feel pressured, the Packers won't, and that will give them the edge to continue their dominance.

Aaron Rodgers

5 of 5

I don't think I said enough how key Aaron Rodgers is to the Green Bay Packers' current dominance and eventual dynasty status.

Just think that Rodgers can actually get better.

Just think that his weapons like Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, Jermichael Finley, James Jones and Randall Cobb can get better.

The sky is the limit for this man. It's possible for him to do things that few quarterbacks in NFL history have been able to do.

Should he keep improving, no team stands a chance.

Until another quarterback proves to be better than Rodgers, the Packers will continue to beat every team they face.
