Robert Griffin III: 2011 Heisman Trophy Is Likely Engraved in His Name
The 2011 Heisman Trophy betting market has been a one-man show this week, as sports bettors are getting down on Baylor Bears quarterback Robert Griffin III to walk away with the hardware Saturday night.
Griffin III is currently being offered as a -1500 favorite at The Greek sports book, which is a far cry from the modest -550 betting odds earlier in the week.
Due to the amount of money that was wagered on Stanford Cardinal quarterback Andrew Luck (+500) during the course of the 2011 campaign, it's virtually a foregone conclusion at this point that fourth-year junior will be named the 77th winner of the prestigious award.
Something that many don't know about Griffin III is the fact that he already graduated from Baylor in December 2010 with a degree in political science—just three years after enrolling at the institution.
Alabama Crimson Tide star Trent Richardson has maintained the No. 2 spot in betting this week, being offered at +350 odds.
Rounding out the five finalists are Wisconsin Badgers running back Montee Ball (+7500) and LSU Tigers cornerback Tyrann Mathieu (+15000).
Former Ohio State Buckeyes star Eddie George announced the finalists on ESPN, potentially giving an inside look at how the voting would go in mentioning Baylor's dual-threat star.
The bronzed trophy is likely engraved.
