Manchester United vs. Wolves: Full Preview, Live Stream, Start Time and Schedule

Tim DanielsDec 7, 2011

After a dominating start to the Premier League season, Manchester United has cooled down considerably as of late. The Red Devils haven't scored more than one goal in any league match since Oct. 1 vs. Norwich City, which is a streak they hope to end Saturday against Wolverhampton.

Several United veterans warned of an eventual slump because it was going to be impossible for them to maintain such a high level of play all season. They currently sit five points behind rival Manchester City in the table with more than one-third of the season completed.

Wolves currently find themselves four points clear of the relegation zone. They ended a brief two-game losing skid with a 2-1 victory over Sunderland last week and will look to build off that momentum in hopes of at least putting up a fight against the Red Devils.

Betting Odds: Manchester United -526, Wolverhampton +1300, Draw +507

Player To Watch for Manchester United: F Wayne Rooney

With Dimitar Berbatov, Javier Hernandez and Michael Owen all battling injuries, Manchester United's depth up top is suddenly lacking. That puts even more pressure on Rooney to jump start the offense with a dominant performance against a shaky back line.

Player To Watch for Wolverhampton: M Jamie O'Hara

Whereas the Red Devils are battling a myriad of fitness issues, Wolves have a relatively healthy roster. O'Hara has often looked like the team's most dangerous offensive threat, but has just two goals to show for his 46 shots. Hopefully, he can work through some family issues and have a good showing.

Key Matchup: Red Devils attack vs. Wolves GK Wayne Hennessey

If Wolverhampton has any chance of walking away from Old Trafford with a point, Hennessey will need to be in elite form. Manchester United has struggled to find the back of the net lately, but you get the feeling sooner or later, they'll explode with a big game.

What They're Saying

While a struggling offense has dominated most of the headlines, goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard wanted to shine the spotlight on the great play of the team's defense (via ESPNsoccernet). The back line has been the main reason United has still managed some points in recent weeks.

"

"Our defence was world class against Aston Villa. Vidic and Ferdinand showed they are truly world-class players. The quality we have been showing in defence since the Manchester City game has been scary.

"

There's been some animosity building between Wolves boss Mick McCarthy and frustrated team supporters, so after last week's comeback win, he took the opportunity to praise their involvement (via Edward Tibbles). A good relationship with fans is always key for a team manager.

"

"Had any of them turned on me, the players or the club, or if the atmosphere was gone, we'd have lost. But they didn't and they were brilliant - even at 1-0 down. And that's how it should be - win together, lose together, draw together.

"I'm cool with it [criticism] being dished out at the end of the game - if we've lost, I've always said they can stay behind and boo me, shout what you want.”

"
