Perhaps we could have seen this one coming.

The dream left side of the infield of Jose Reyes and Hanley Ramirez is not going to happen.

Jorge Sedano cited an ESPN Deportes story from Enrique Rojas that said Hanley Ramirez would not want to move to third base and wants to be traded if he can't play shortshop.

If Ramirez is going to be moved, let's take a look at teams that need to think long and hard about acquiring the Marlins' star.

This would not be cheap, but it would make the lineup downright frightening. In Jacoby Ellsbury, Dustin Pedroia and Ramirez, you would have a top three in the lineup with an unmatched combination of speed and power. If Carl Crawford has a resurgent season, it only gets better.

The Sox have a hole at shortstop. It's actually one of the only holes on the team. While pitching would seem like a bigger need, the arms are there, especially in the starting rotation. Bobby Valentine is the type of manager to give Ramirez the kind of kick that he needs.

Los Angeles Angels

While Erick Aybar is a nice player, he's not Ramirez, or even close. This would give the Angels the kind of hitter that they just haven't had over the last two years while the team has struggled.

Unlike the Red Sox, the Angels don't have an especially difficult road to the playoffs. Yes, the Rangers have made the World Series in each of the last two years. Still, the Mariners and Athletics have done nothing of note, nor have the soon to be division rival Houston Astros

The Angels need a hitter to spark a young lineup. Ramirez is that guy.

The free agency of Alex Gonzalez leaves the Braves with a hole at shortstop. Atlanta is a young team with plenty of talent to offer, so the fact that this would be an interdivisional trade isn't too concerning.

What the Braves don't have is a real hitting threat from the right side of the plate. Dan Uggla is there, but he's too one-dimensional. That does not describe Ramirez.

This would also be a reuniting of Ramirez and Uggla, who were double-play partners with the Marlins before Uggla left the team.
