Oklahoma State Jumping Alabama Would Show Us There Is Something Really Wrong

Joe PenkalaDec 4, 2011

Since Oklahoma State lost on the road to Iowa State, people had moved Alabama ahead in the rankings, and all the talk has been about a Crimson Tide and Tiger rematch.

As the end of the season drew closer, the controversy of a rematch became stronger and stronger, but the play of Alabama has remained consistent.

Here we find ourselves in the final hour before the final BCS rankings are announced, and people began to get cold feet with every touchdown that the Cowboys scored on Oklahoma last night.

Once the beatdown was complete, the Cowboys and people around the nation began to wonder if the way that they had been voting was correct, and the rematch was warranted.

Now due to the indecision of voters and the politicking on both sides, there's a group of young men in Alabama and in Oklahoma that are unsure of their bowl-season fates. As they sit there waiting, the announcement draws closer and closer but is seemingly taking forever.

On one hand, the Cowboys can claim only one loss that was on the road but was against an unranked Iowa State team. The Crimson Tide on the other hand, have one loss but understand it was at home but was to the No. 1 team in the nation.

Some may say that Alabama had their shot, had the Tigers at home and could not finish the job. Those people believe that Oklahoma State won their conference convincingly and deserve an opportunity to take on LSU.

There is another group that will say that Alabama outplayed LSU but failed to capitalize at critical times, and that despite not even playing for their conference title, they are the second-best team in the nation.

Regardless of which side of the argument you sit on, what cannot go unnoticed is that for the past three weeks, voters have kept Alabama ahead of the Cowboys and so should the BCS. If voters truly believed that the Cowboys were the second-best team in the nation, then they should have voted that way all along.

While the clock continues to tick ever so slowly for the group of young men in Alabama and Oklahoma, we are closing in on the announcement of who will go to the BCS national championship.

One thing that everyone can agree on is at the end of the day, no matter who is selected as the second team in the championship, they will be taking on the best team in the nation, LSU.
