Georgia vs. LSU: Can Isaiah Crowell Outshine the Tigers' Defense?
For Georgia’s Isaiah Crowell, the freshman running back hasn’t seen anything in his football career that would be look like the LSU defense that he will face Saturday in Atlanta for the SEC Championship.
But could the highly rated recruit be able to solve the complex Tigers’ defense and have a big day against the No. 1 team in the nation?
I think Crowell could have a big day when it’s all said and done today when the SEC title game is over, no matter who wins the game.
While the LSU defense as a whole was extremely effective this season, the rushing defense, statistically, wasn’t as bullet proof as most thought of LSU as the team allowed less than 100 yards in only three games.
For the season, Crowell had four 100+ yard games against South Carolina, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Auburn, in addition to coming close to two more 100 yard games against Coastal Carolina and Florida.
Are the defenses that Crowell faced earlier this season as good as the LSU defense the freshman will be facing this afternoon? No.
Does Crowell have the talent to rip off another 100 yard game in his first season as starting running back for a major college football program? Yes.
If Georgia wants score one of the biggest upsets of the season, the Bulldogs will need a great game from Crowell to help take some of the pressure off quarterback Aaron Murray as the program marks its first return to the title game since the 2005 season.
So Bleachers, will Georgia’s Crowell break loose against LSU in the SEC Championship game or will the Tigers control the ground game of the Bulldogs this afternoon in Georgia’s backyard of Atlanta?
