SEC Championship Game: LSU Can't Let BCS Title Talk Affect Their Preparation
LSU cannot allow all the talk of the BCS and a possible rematch with Alabama in the national championship game affect their preparation for Georgia in the SEC Championship game on Saturday.
The Bulldogs are a quality team that has won 10 straight games since starting the season 0-2, and the Tigers must be focused to start the game to avoid a poor start.
Georgia really has a chance to make the BCS explode on Saturday if they find a way to beat the nation's best team.
If LSU were to lose there would be many people screaming for teams such as Oklahoma State to get a shot at Alabama in the BCS title game.
That sort of debate is not what the BCS and the people who favor it need, although it would create some awesome discussion.
The Tigers must come out and play better than they did against Arkansas last week. LSU allowed the Razorbacks to jump out to a 14-0 lead before they scored 21 unanswered points to end the first half.
Arkansas scored only a field goal in the second half as LSU won the game 41-17.
The Tigers cannot start that poorly against the Bulldogs, because Georgia will then really believe that they can pull off a miracle upset.
One of the worst things a heavily favored team can do is allow the inferior team to believe they can win and gain more confidence as the game progresses.
LSU cannot worry about the BCS or a national championship matchup, they have to focus on Georgia and becoming the SEC champions.
If they do that, they will earn a trip to the BCS title game.
