BCS Rankings: BCS Title Game Safe from Oklahoma State Shakeup

Gabe ZaldivarDec 3, 2011

This weekend features a wealth of championship games. So you would think every last section of the BCS rankings would be primed for an epic shuffle. Well, you're wrong.

In fact, the top of the heap will be eerily similar to what you see now. Alabama will sit by and watch LSU further solidify their stance as the No. 1 team in the nation.

They also get to see their would-be replacements at No. 2 battle in a rivalry game. The Crimson Tide are home and loving every minute of this weekend. Their is nothing but upside abounding for them in an idle Saturday.

No, I am not about to say that thee won't be an few fans, players and coaches biting their nails, but when you take a step back you can see that the voters have made their intentions clear, and there is nothing the computers can do about it.

We will have another showdown between Alabama and LSU. Consider that LSU is playing an overmatched Georgia team. You have to look long and hard, and still may never find a reason to believe there will be an upset.

LSU could have dropped a good amount of games to some very good teams. Georgia will not be the one that gets the elusive win this year.

The more important and confusing part is the tale of Oklahoma State. If the Sooners beat them, forget it, we have our assumed title game.

Now if the Cowboys win, that may be an entirely different scenario. I will go along with the fact that the Cowboys could swap into second with a mammoth beat down of their in-state rivals. It would have to be a disastrous showing by Oklahoma though, and the scoreboard must reflect that.

I just don't see a potent offense like the one the Sooners have been quieted. It will be a close game and that is all the voters need to continue doing what they do, and that's slide LSU and Alabama together for one last go.

Do we really want a shakeup anyway? Alabama and LSU are no doubt the best teams in the nation, and by a large margin.

Sure, the game will be dull, but it will be just. As long as it features the true top two in the nation.
