Georgia vs. LSU: Best Case and Worst Case Bowl Scenario for Both Teams

Randy ChambersDec 2, 2011

With mainly only conference championships remaining for most teams, we all have a pretty good idea of where each team will end up as far as bowls are concerned. But if we know anything about college football, it's that anything can happen. Expect the expected to happen, but always prepare for craziest scenario you can think of.

It is college football after all.

The LSU Tigers and Georgia Bulldogs are going to square off this weekend, which is one of the most anticipated conference championship games. It will have a huge impact on how the rest of the BCS bowl games play out.

Here are the best and worst case bowl scenarios for both teams.

LSU Tigers

Best: The best case scenario is obviously the National Championship. Who in the world wouldn't want to play in the biggest game of the year with a chance to be crowned champion? It really doesn't get any simpler for LSU.

Win this game and you remain the No.1 team in the country and will have a chance to compete in the national championship.

Worst: Many people are wondering what if the Tigers end up losing to the Bulldogs on Saturday? I still think they reach the national championship. The only difference is they won't be crowned SEC champions and will probably become the No.2 team in the country.

What other team has beaten seven ranked teams and three of them being in the Top 5? The Tigers have the most impressive resume in college football and one tiny little loss won't hurt that fact.

Georgia Bulldogs

Best: BCS Sugar Bowl. The Bulldogs will reach a BCS game if they are able to upset the LSU Tigers. It's really that cut and dry.

This would really be a great ending to the Bulldogs season as they started the season off with two quick losses and rumors that head coach Mark Richt was going to be fired. The Bulldogs winning also may not be as crazy as you think. They do have a top quarterback in Aaron Murray and a defense that is tied with LSU with 32 sacks.

Don't sleep on this team, they can play.

Worst: The worst bowl the Bulldogs can finish is the Outback Bowl, which really isn't that bad. The payout is $7 million and they'll end up playing a top Big Ten team which will likely end up being Nebraska. They'll also be close to home as the game is held in Tampa, Florida.

Of course the Bulldogs are going to want a BCS bowl, but even the worst case scenario isn't too shabby for a team that started the season 0-2.
