Georgia vs. LSU: 5 Players Who Will Decide the SEC Championship
The SEC Championship Game is probably the biggest conference game this weekend. It has serious implications on the national championship and the BCS Sugar Bowl if Georgia is able to pull off the upset.
Regardless of the outcome of the game, it is expected to be a great game because both of these SEC teams know how to get after it. They both feature playmakers on both sides of the ball, and great coaches that have been in this position before.
Here are five players who will help decide the outcome of this game.
Georgia QB Aaron Murray
1 of 5Murray is the top quarterback in the SEC this season, and has shown great growth over the last year. He has completed 61 percent of his passes for 2,698 yards and 32 touchdowns, which is the most in the conference.
In the last three games, he has thrown for over 600 yards and nine touchdowns.
If Murray is able to get the passing game going, it will make things a lot easier for the next guy on this list.
Georgia RB Isaiah Crowell
2 of 5Crowell may not have the flashy stats that a lot of other top running backs have, with only 832 rushing yards and six total touchdowns. But he has big-play ability, and with his blazing speed, he is a threat to take it the distance every time he touches the ball.
He is the type of player that can stretch the defense, and will make LSU's defense play a little bit more honestly.
LSU has been great at stopping the run all season, but they have another big test this weekend against a speedster.
Georgia LB Jarvis Jones
3 of 5All you have to do is see this picture, and you know why Jarvis Jones is on this list. He has the ability to really change the outcome of the game and can possibility help the Bulldogs win.
Georgia is tied with LSU for 32 sacks, which is the most in the SEC. Jarvis Jones, who is only a sophomore, has 13.5 of those, which is by far the most on the team. He also leads Georgia with 66 tackles.
If Jones can rattle the LSU quarterbacks and make them uncomfortable, he could help create a few turnovers, which could be the difference in this game.
LSU RB Michael Ford
4 of 5We all know what the Tigers' offense likes to do, and that's run the ball. Michael Ford is a big reason for the Tigers' success, and is the big-play threat on this LSU offense.
He will have his work cut out for him, though, as the Bulldogs do rank third in the SEC in rush defense (only giving up 94 yards on the ground).
Ford will need to step up and break off a few big runs to take some of the pressure off of Lee and Jefferson.
LSU CB Tyrann Mathieu
5 of 5You all knew Tyrann Mathieu had to be on this list. He is the clutch player that always seems to make the biggest play for the Tigers whenever they need it most.
Just watch the video, and you'll see what I mean.
If the Bulldogs don't know where this guy is on the field at all times, they are in trouble. Even when he's on the bench, I'd like to make sure—just in case.
If the Bulldogs can prevent Mathieu from making a game-changing play, they'll have a chance.
