BYU vs. Hawaii: Latest Spread Info, BCS Impact and Predictions
The Brigham Young Cougars (8-3) and Hawaii Warriors (6-6) will conclude their regular seasons on Saturday when BYU takes a trip to Hawaii.
Despite being on the road, BYU enters the game as heavy favorites.
Where: Aloha Stadium, Honolulu, Hawaii
When: Saturday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. ET
Watch: ESPN2. Streamed at ESPN3
Spread: BYU (-8), according to Sportsbook
I am not crazy about this spread. I do have BYU winning this one, but Hawaii's offense is too strong to think they will lose by eight at home. I can see it happen, but I wouldn't bet on it.
Over/Under: 55.5, according to Sportsbook
Go over. These offenses are both strong. I am far more confident in this one than I am with betting the spread.
BYU Key Injuries
TE Devin Mahina, RB Iona Pritchard, RB Adam Hine, OL Ryker Mathews, TE Richard Wilson, LB Jordan Pendleton, LB Austen Jorgensen and TE Austin Holt are out.
DB Jray Galea'i is doubtful.
QB Riley Nelson, OL Matt Reynolds and RB Joshua Quezada are probable.
Hawaii Key Injuries
OL Sean Shigematsu, DL Haku Correa, DL Desmond Dean, SB Allen Sampson, WR Justin Clapp, LB Art Laurel and QB Bryant Moniz are out.
QB David Graves is probable.
BCS/Top 25 Implications
Neither team is close to the BCS nor the Top 25. While it's not a conference game, this game does have significant bowl implications for each team. Hawaii would strengthen its chances at making a bowl with an upset win, while BYU would likely earn a spot in a better bowl.
Keys to BYU Win
Their offense has been strong all season. If they go out, control the game and don't make turnovers, they will win.
Defensively, they don't need to be perfect. The loss of Moniz really hurts Hawaii's chances.
Keys to Hawaii Win
Get the ball to Royce Pollard. He has eight touchdown grabs and nearly 1,000 yards receiving this year. He'll need to be a factor, and a big one.
Prediction: BYU 37, Hawaii 31
Look for plenty of points in this one. BYU wins in a shootout.
