College Football Picks Against the Spread: 3 Bets You Need to Avoid
There aren’t as many college football games to pick from this weekend, but almost all of the games are huge contests.
Six of the games are between ranked opponents, and that’s not including the Pac-12 championship.
For those of you who want to place a bet on one of these games, be warned: There are plenty of games that Vegas picked perfectly, and you need to stay away from them.
Here are the three most dangerous bets for the final weekend of college football.
Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State (-3.5)
1 of 3Oklahoma State has the most impressive record of any team (other than LSU), but its history against in-state rival Oklahoma is rather one-sided. The Cowboys haven’t beaten the Sooners since 2002, but this is a different State team.
That said, Oklahoma will be without Dominique Whaley, Ryan Broyles and Ronnell Lewis.
All in all, there are way too many unanswered questions heading into this game. While I have the Pokes winning this contest, it is unknown whether they can get over the hump or if they’ll even cover.
Texas vs. Baylor (-2.5)
2 of 3Baylor is a really good team at home, having beaten TCU and Oklahoma there already this season.
But Texas’ slow and steady run game they showed against Texas Tech matches up really well with the Bears’ defense.
And then there’s the mystery of whether Robert Griffin III will be affected by his concussion-like symptoms that took him out of the game against the Red Raiders last week. He’ll need to be 100 percent against the best defense in the Big 12.
I’m not a proponent of the Longhorns by any means, but they pose a real problem for Baylor.
BYU vs. Hawaii (+8)
3 of 3It isn’t the most high-profile game of the weekend, but it is still the most interesting line.
Hawaii is only 6-6, but it is considerably better when playing at home, which is where this game will be played. The Warriors are also fighting for a spot in a bowl game.
BYU is 8-3, but two of its losses are away from home, and half of Hawaii’s losses are by less than eight points.
Based on all of that information, it’s tough to pick this game for this line that is nearly perfect. This is not the out-of-the-box game you want to bet on.
