AC Milan Chief Silvio Berlusconi Returning After Resignation as Prime Minister
After spending most of the recent weeks and months dealing with issues in the Italian government, which led to his resignation as prime minister earlier this month, Silvio Berlusconi is set to return his full attention to AC Milan.
Berlusconi bought the club in 1986 and although Italians and indeed many people around the world despise him, the things he has done for Milan have made him a hero amongst the Rossoneri faithful.
His triumphs have included landing the Dutch trio of Marco van Basten, Ruud Gullit and Frank Rijkaard right off the bat, and finding the greatest managers to lead the side in Arrigo Sacchi, Fabio Cappello and more. The club that won the 1989 and 1990 European Cups is considered one of, if not the greatest squad ever assembled.

After years of economic trouble, he purchased Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Robinho, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Antonio Cassano and Mark van Bommel, which lead to AC Milan's 18th Italian championship.
His return can't come a moment too soon for the club. With the need for a strong player in all three outfield areas (attack, midfield and defense), the possibly limited funds that Berlusconi can offer will be appreciated.
Of course, as he returns to his position as president, he had to set the pace by making a self-gratifying—albeit true—statement.
“Will I return to the role of President of Milan? Certainly, I will re-take the position as soon as possible,” Berlusconi told the Italian press last night. “I am the President who has won more than any other in the history of football. Santiago Bernabeu, who is the second in that list, didn’t win half the trophies I did.”
In his years with Milan, Berlusconi has won eight Serie A titles, one Coppa Italia, six Italian Super Cups, five Champions League titles and five UEFA Super Cups. What's more, Milan have been world champions three times. The Milan native also wrote the club's official anthem.
