Week 13 Start 'Em Sit 'Em: Michael Bush and 3 Others to Start
It's the final crucial regular season week in most fantasy football leagues as people across the country fight for a playoff spot.
With that in mind, there's most likely a few players who some may be on the fence due to injuries, lack of production, or matchup problems. So, here are four players to start in Week 13.
Michael Bush: RB, Raiders (at Miami)
1 of 4According to Steve Corkran of The Contra Costa Times, Raiders RB Darren McFadden was on the practice field on Monday:
""Running back Darren McFadden was spotted on the practice field this morning, working out under the guidance of a team trainer. At this rate, it’s likely that the Raiders are targeting the Green Bay Packers game Dec. 11 as the projected return for McFadden."
"
That being said, Michael Bush is another go this week for Oakland's game against Miami. The Dolphins may have a solid rush defense, but running the ball is the Raiders' bread and butter.
And although it's unlikely that Bush slams the 'Fins for 150-plus yards, he'll still put up solid numbers and enough to warrant some nice fantasy points. Also, don't be surprised if he sees a few targets in the passing game since Miami is weaker against the pass than they are against the rush.
Jermaine Gresham: TE, Bengals (at Pittsburgh)
2 of 4This week the Cincinnati Bengals need a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Pittsburgh to keep their playoff hopes alive. And to maximize their odds, getting TE Jermaine Gresham in the mix is a crucial aspect.
For as great as the Steel Curtain is defensively, rookie QB Andy Dalton will have the most success if he spreads that ball around. Rookie WR A.J. Green will stretch the field and fellow wideout Jerome Simpson can attract attention from the middle as a possession target.
That is where Gresham comes in not only for the Bengals, but also in fantasy football. The Steelers like to blitz so all things considered, along with Green and Simpson, Gresham will likely be in a lot of one-on-one situations.
He's second on the team in TDs (five) and receptions (37), so he does have the ability to beat single coverage. And for Cincinnati to move the ball consistently well and effectively, he must produce.
So, start Gresham as he'll see a solid number of targets this week.
Reggie Wayne: WR, Colts (at New England)
3 of 4If there's a week to start Colts WR Reggie Wayn,e this is it. Although Indy ranks No. 28 in passing offense, New England still ranks dead last in pass defense.
Therefore, it's for certain that the Colts will have success and more notably, Mr. Wayne. Plus it helps that he leads Indianapolis with 47 receptions, however, he has just two TDs.
Well, if the Colts want any shot at an upset, letting the passing game go is really their best option. For one, why not do it? They're 0-11 anyway, and the Pats' are vying for the AFC's No. 1 seed. Their best shot to win is by constantly airing it out because their defense won't shutdown Tom Brady.
Hence, Wayne gets a lot of targets and has a rather solid game because Indianapolis does have better receivers than New England has DBs. The Pats' will most likely play zone coverage anyway, so that will allow Wayne to settle and find the soft spot in the secondary.
Don't expect Wayne to get many yards after the catch, but being a possession receiver, this week will work just fine for him.
Larry Fitzgerald: WR, Cardinals (vs Dallas)
4 of 4According to Bob McManaman of The Arizona Republic, QB Kevin Kolb may return this week:
""The team fully expects Kevin Kolb to finally be able to put his troublesome right foot and big toe to the test and return as Arizona's starter."
"
So, even though WR Larry Fitzgerald may have been starting anyway, you can at least feel more confident about starting him this week.
And if Arizona wants any shot at defeating Dallas anyway, throwing the rock up to Larry is their best bet. Kolb does know how to spread the ball around rather decently, but the Cowboys weakness is defending the pass.
Therefore, targeting Larry quite often is a must and he will produce if given multiple opportunities. No Dallas defender can cover him one-on-one, and even in double coverage he'll just out-leap everyone. As long as the Cardinals can reach the red zone a few times, Fitzgerald will have a good showing.
