Florida Gators Football: 5 Best Moments of the 2011 Season
The 2011 regular season has finally wrapped up for the Florida Gators after a 21-7 loss against Florida State.
In a season that brought much disappointment to Gator fans, there wasn't much to be excited about. However, the Gators still provided some exciting moments that helped ease the pain of a 6-6 season for Gator fans.
Here are the top five moments of the 2011 regular season for the Florida Gators.
5. Jelani Jenkins Interception for TD Against Furman
1 of 5The fifth-best moment came when linebacker Jealni Jenkins finally was able to haul in an interception by picking off Chris Forcier, Furman's starting quarterback.
Forcier dropped back and threw an errant pass as the Paladins were attempting to get back in the game, trailing 44-32. Forcier was way off target as the throw went right to Jenkins. He then returned the interception 75 yards.
His interception helped seal the victory for the Gators as that gave them a 51-32 lead with only four minutes left in the fourth quarter.
4. Chris Rainey's Performance Against Florida Atlantic
2 of 5In the season opener, running back Chris Rainey made his presence known in a hurry. Rainey had one of his best performances all season against FAU.
He finished with 146 total yards, along with two touchdowns on the day. His touchdowns, one rushing and one passing, both exemplified Rainey's speed and ability to make defenders miss. His 14-yard rushing touchdown could arguably be the best highlight of his season as he spun past one defender and made another miss before reaching the end zone.
With this performance, Rainey established himself as one of the team's best offensive playmakers.
3. Chris Rainey's 83-Yard Touchdown Against Tennessee
3 of 5Perhaps one of the biggest plays of the season was Chris Rainey's 83-yard touchdown against Florida rival Tennessee.
John Brantley dropped back to pass and found Rainey in the middle of field after slipping out of the backfield unnoticed.
When Rainey caught the ball and turned up field, no defender was in sight and Rainey was able to take it all the way for a touchdown. This play was the biggest of the game for the Gators and helped provide a comfortable lead for Florida in their 33-23 victory over Tennessee.
2. Jeff Demps Shows Off His Speed Against Kentucky
4 of 5Jeff Demps' breakout game this season came against the Kentucky Wildcats as he ran for 157 yards and two touchdowns.
But the best play of the game by Demps was his 84-yard touchdown run as he extended the Florida lead. Florida went on to win the game 48-10.
The impressive aspect of this run was Demps' speed as he ran downfield. There are two Kentucky defenders in the secondary that have a decent angle on Demps as he gets past the front seven. But Demps' speed is just too great for them as he is able to split the defenders and finish off the run in the end zone.
1. Andre Debose's 65-Yard Touchdown vs. Alabama
5 of 5The most exciting play of the season came against Alabama in The Swamp on Oct. 1.
Florida, who was ranked No. 12 at the time, was a big underdog against Alabama. After a quick false start on the first play of the game, John Brantley dropped back and threw a bomb downfield.
Andre Debose, who was lined up to the left, was able to beat cornerback Dre' Kirkpatrick, make the catch, and run into the end zone.
