The BCS rankings have long been frustrating college football fans, and the annoyance with them will continue once the Oklahoma State Cowboys are placed ahead of the Alabama Crimson Tide next week.
Both teams are very good, but once the Cowboys beat their arch rival, the Oklahoma Sooners, to win the Big 12, they will get the push over the Crimson Tide and take the No. 2 spot in the BCS.
Of course, this won't sit well with a number of fans, but that's the way life is.
You can't deny that both teams are extremely talented. One has a very impressive defense and the other a phenomenal high powered offense. They both have one loss on the season, as well as solid victories over quality opponents.
It would be great to see these two teams go head-to-head to determine the true No. 2, but that will never happen.
Wait, unless, no, it couldn't be. Alas, our hearts desire something we can only dream about: a college football playoff.
Until then, we're left with the AP Poll declaring who is the best, as well as the beloved computers.
Right now, the Crimson Tide are .084 above the Cowboys, but once Oklahoma State claims the Big 12 conference title, it will leap frog over Alabama.
The Crimson Tide will be negatively affected by not being able to play this weekend. Their fanbase will shout to the roofs that they deserve to be No. 2, but it just won't happen.
Mike Hlas, who writes for The Gazette, tweeted some great information regarding both schools.
Oklahoma State's body of work has been very remarkable this year, but the only thing currently holding the Cowboys back from being ranked higher than Alabama is the double over time loss to Iowa State.
Computers don't see that it was an awfully close game, and that Oklahoma State was playing with heavy hearts. Still, though, they should have won the game, but it doesn't mean they can't reclaim the No. 2 spot.
The Cowboys need that extra win to give them the edge over the Crimson Tide, and it will happen this Saturday. Landry Jones may be a better quarterback than Brandon Weeden, but with Justin Blackmon running deep for the Cowboys, the Sooners will be in deep water.
They have no answer for the Cowboys, and Oklahoma State will not be denied a victory at home because they know how important this game is.
