BCS Bowl Predictions: Oregon Will Dominate Wisconsin in Rose Bowl
I'm expecting Oregon and Wisconsin to punch their tickets to the Rose Bowl this Saturday, and if the two 10-2 teams do meet, the Ducks will cruise to an easy victory.
Both teams have to win their respective conference's inaugural championship game before flying to Pasadena, but they shouldn't have much trouble.
Oregon is facing a lackluster UCLA team, who advanced to the Pac-12 title game by default. The Bruins finished two games behind USC but will represent the Pac-12 South because of the Trojans' postseason ban.
Wisconsin has a tougher matchup with No. 14 Michigan State, who they lost to earlier this season. However, I think that game was a fluke.
The Badgers had a disastrous second quarter that caused them to fall behind, then lost on a freak Hail Mary as time expired.
Wisconsin should prevail in the rematch. They have the better offense, the better defense and will be seeking vengeance.
A win by the Badgers would set up a salivating matchup between two of the nation's best offenses.
Led by LaMichael James and Darron Thomas, the Ducks put up 45.9 points per game, which is third in the nation.
The Badgers are right behind them, averaging 44.8 points per contest thanks to Russell Wilson and Montee Ball.
But despite the similar numbers, I think there is a big difference in the quality of their opponents.
Wisconsin has beaten two ranked teams (Nebraska and Penn State), but neither is as good as previously thought.
Oregon has also taken down two Top 25 teams (Arizona State and Stanford). And while the Sun Devils dropped off considerably, the Ducks' 53-30 victory over Stanford is still more impressive than any of Wisconsin's wins.
Oregon also gets props for putting up 27 points on the vicious LSU defense. They are the only team that's had any sort of offensive success against the Tigers.
Wisconsin will win the Big Ten championship, but their reward will be a beatdown at the hands of Oregon. The Ducks' offense will again fly high, and the Badgers won't be able to keep up.
Prediction: Oregon 48, Wisconsin 31
