BCS Bowl Predictions: Alabama vs. LSU Rematch Is Inevitable
As much as I don't want to see a rematch in the BCS title game, another LSU vs. Alabama matchup is inevitable.
Both teams played quality opponents this week, and both crushed them with ease.
LSU fell down 14-0 early in the second quarter to No. 3 Arkansas. Then they outscored them 41-3.
You know you're good when you can make the third-ranked team in the nation look like a bunch of pimply faced high schoolers.
Conversely, Alabama never trailed in their dominant 42-14 victory against No. 24 Auburn.
Trent Richardson—my pick for the Heisman trophy—ran for a career-high 203 yards on 27 carries.
He didn't find the end zone, but he did unleash one of the most violent, disrespectful, nasty runs I have ever seen.
I almost hate to say it, but there will undoubtedly be a rematch for the BCS championship. These are clearly the two best teams in the country.
I've changed my stance on a potential rematch over the past few weeks.
I initially opposed it for three main reasons: (1) Alabama had their chance to prove they were the better team and blew it, (2) other teams were deserving of a national title shot and (3) an Alabama victory would provide no closure for the season.
But since I took that stance, every other deserving team lost (in some cases, for the second time).
So now, I'm saying "screw it." Who cares if Alabama already lost to LSU? Who cares if there's no closure?
Yes, the first game was fairly boring, unless you have a fetish for missed field goals.
But the only thing that would be more boring than another 9-6 game would be watching LSU crush someone by thirty.
So, bring on the rematch.
