Week 12 Fantasy Football Projections: Mike Wallace and More Prime-Time Studs

Michael DixonNov 25, 2011

Between the Pittsburgh Steelers, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Giants and New Orleans Saints, there are plenty of players that can turn a fantasy matchup around late this week.

If you happen to have any of these players, or are opposing any of these players, expect it to happen. Let's take a look at one player from each team that might do that.

Mike Wallace

Wallace has emerged this season as perhaps the game's best big-play receiver. I guess I could go with Ben Roethlisberger here, but his injury has me a little concerned. I am just not convinced that Big Ben will have a great day.

That said, he will do fine when Wallace is his target. These two have skills that mesh perfectly. Roethlisberger throws a great deep ball and Wallace is a great downfield threat.

It's tough to imagine the Kansas City secondary doing anything significant to stop him.

Dwayne Bowe

If you're in the presence of a Chiefs fan, don't complain about injuries to your team. Given all of the injuries that they have had in 2011, Bowe is their only real fantasy threat.

The Steelers defense is not one that's going to allow a lot of points. What works in Bowe's favor is that the Chiefs will be playing from behind for a lot of this game. Tyler Palko will be slinging the ball around.

Therefore, his best receiver is a good bet to bring in some catches and yards.

Victor Cruz

Cruz has been one of the best fantasy sleepers this season. If you got him early in the year, give yourself a pat on the back.

This week, he's in a dome and going against a secondary that is prone to giving up the big play. When the New Orleans defense is at its best, it's an aggressive unit that forces a lot of turnovers.

In fantasy terms, that hurts the quarterback, but not the receivers. Look for Cruz to bring in a few big plays.

While we're on the subject of strong players going against a weak secondary, let's take a look at Brees. Brees is always a great quarterback, but he's at another level in the Superdome.

Brees has as many targets as any quarterback in the game (short of Aaron Rodgers) and is the right quarterback to get the ball to those weapons.

New York has a good pass rush, but their secondary is just not good enough to stand up to Brees or the New Orleans receivers.
