BCS Rankings: 3 Teams That Will Jump into Top 25 with Wins

Tim KeeneyNov 22, 2011

Here's a quick look at three teams ready to crack the BCS Top 25 with wins this weekend.

West Virginia (7-3)

The Mountaineers have been quite inconsistent this season, especially in the Big East, but they appear to have righted the ship after a win at former No. 23 Cincinnati last week.

West Virginia is just on the outside of the Top 25 in the AP Poll, so a win on Saturday against Pittsburgh will definitely move them to the BCS Top 25 over four-loss teams such as Auburn or Texas (especially after Auburn gets done with Alabama. Or vice versa).

Tulsa (8-3)

The Golden Hurricans have rolled through the Conference USA and now get a fitting last game against No. 8 Houston to decide the winner of the C-USA West.

Led by Case Keenum, Houston has one of the most explosive offenses in the nation, but Tulsa's 19th-ranked scoring offense isn't too shabby, either.

They should be able to keep up with the Cougars, especially at home.

Tulsa has certainly had their share of tests this season, as they've matched up with Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Boise State, so they won't be afraid when Houston comes to town.

This should be a fun one to watch, and I've just got a feeling that Tulsa comes out on top. If they do, they'll surely jump into the BCS Top 25.

Especially if the C-USA is good enough to propel Houston to No. 8.

Iowa (7-4)

There are currently two four-loss teams in the BCS Top 25 (Texas and Auburn), so it wouldn't surprise me if a third gets in there next week.

The Big Ten has five teams in the Top 25, so it's clear that it is the third-ranked conference, meaning a four-loss team has a legitimate chance to crack the polls.

Iowa needs to beat No. 21 Nebraska to get there. If the Hawkeyes do pull the upset, and I think they will behind running back Marcus Coker, they should easily pass the Cornhuskers in the polls.
