Bears vs. Raiders: TV Schedule, Live Stream, Radio, Game Time and More

Alex KayNov 22, 2011

The Oakland Raiders will be hosting the Chicago Bears on Sunday and are favorites to win.

Jay Cutler will be missing his first game of the season with a broken thumb, and that severely hurts the Bears’ playoff chances, especially if backup Caleb Hanie is a complete bust.

Oakland will most likely be without Darren McFadden once again, but backup Michael Bush has been a stud in his absence. Will he continue that dominance against the Bears?

What's At Stake?

Both of these teams are barely hanging on to their playoff spots right now with six games left, and a lot could happen over these last few weeks.

It’s a huge game, and the winner will definitely have a leg up in making the postseason in their respective conference.

Chicago is 7-3 but trailing the Packers in the AFC North and have the Lions, Falcons and Giants breathing down their necks for the Wild Card spot.

Oakland is 6-4 and leading the AFC West, but the Broncos are 5-5, and the Chiefs and Chargers are 4-6. They need to earn as many wins as possible to hang on to the division lead.

Bears Injury Report (via Rotoworld.com)

QB Jay Cutler—OUT (Thumb)—Chicago was initially fearful they would lose Cutler for the season with his broken thumb, but they are now looking to have him back in Week 16 or 17.

It is still going to be a rough couple of weeks for them as they try to stay in the playoff hunt without their star QB.

Raiders Injury Report (via Rotoworld.com)

WR Darrius Heyward-Bey—QST (Neck)—DHB was taken off the field on a stretcher last Sunday but is now “fine.” He is set to resume practice this week and could be playing against the Bears.

RB Darren McFadden—QST (Foot)—McFadden hasn’t played since Week 7, but Michael Bush has shined in his absence.

Oakland isn’t rushing him back since Bush has been doing so well, and he will not play until he is 100-percent healthy.

Fantasy Start 'Em, Sit' Em and Sleeper

Start ‘Em: Carson Palmer

The Bears are allowing 270.7 yards per game to opposing QBs, and the Raiders signal-caller should have a solid game against this weak secondary.

Palmer is prone to throwing interceptions right now but had a no-turnover outing against Minnesota.

He scored on a rushing and passing TD and will look to continue his mistake-free football on Sunday.

Sit ‘Em: Michael Bush

While Carson and the Raiders’ passing game should have a field day against Chicago, Bush is going to struggle.

The Bears run defense is one of the better units in the league, and they are only beatable because their secondary is so weak.

Sit the Raiders RB if you have a more viable option hanging around.

Sleeper: Marion Barber

With Cutler out, the Bears are going to rely on their ground game to get the job done until he is healthy.

Barber has scored two touchdowns in his last three games and could be good for another one or two this week with increased touches.

He will still back up Matt Forte, but this team is going to run the ball way more often now.

What They're Saying

Steve Rosenbloom of the Chicago Tribune thinks that Caleb Hanie, the Bears backup who will be starting for at least a few weeks, needs to make plays to get his team into the playoffs. He also thinks Mike Martz needs to change his offense for the new signal-caller.

"

“Hanie doesn’t need the standard Martz fluff. Martz doesn’t need to burden Hanie with it. This is no time for Martz to call a game like it’s a final exam for quarterbacks. Put your players in the best position to succeed. It’s simple.”

"

Tom FitzGerald of the San Francisco Chronicle points out that while this Raiders team may be playing good football, they are still one of the most penalized teams in the league, something that has been quite common.

"

“With a league-worst 103 penalties for 894 yards, the Raiders are on pace to break the NFL record of 158 penalties, set by the 1998 Chiefs. Since the 1970 merger, the Raiders have six of the 10 most-penalized seasons.”

"

Bears Player to Watch: Matt Forte

Chicago is going to have to rely a lot on Forte, a player they already heavily lean on.

How will he handle this increased workload? Will he fold under the pressure?

Those are questions we will see answered on Sunday.

Raiders Player to Watch: Denarius Moore

If DHB can’t go on Sunday, rookie WR Moore is going to have to step his inconsistent game up.

Moore can be the best player on the field and has been in a few games this season. Will he be able to bring it every game if Heyward-Bey misses an extended period of time?

We’ll find out.

Key Matchup: Raiders Rush Defense vs. Bears Ground Game

Hanie is going to be severely limited in his first start this season, and the Bears will look to pound the rock against Oakland.

Their rushing defense took a huge step back this season and is looking quite vulnerable. Chicago will be attempting to take advantage of it and pick up the win.
