Alabama Football: Can Auburn Upset Alabama? Not According to the Bama Players.
The last two weeks have seen a lot of upsets, and Auburn would like nothing better than to add to that list by defeating Alabama and ruining their cross-state rival's dreams of a BCS Championship.
Alabama came within two points of doing just that to Auburn last year.
Could this be the year that Auburn salvages a so-so season with a huge win against their annual Iron Bowl opponent?
Sorry, I just looked out the window and didn't see any pigs fly, and I'm pretty sure hell hasn't frozen over, so in a word, no.
It's not that Auburn doesn't have a puncher's shot of winning this brawl; it is college football and anything can happen.
So it's not what Auburn may be able to do that causes a problem for Alabama. It's what Nick Saban and this team that now feels they are on a mission will simply not allow to happen.
They simply will not allow Auburn the opportunity to score enough points to win this game. They simply won't allow Auburn to shut them down on offense. They simply will lose to an inferior team, and with all due respect to Auburn, that's exactly what they are.
They have come to far, lost a game that a coach and man know they should have won and have been given a second chance.
Instead of being in bed for the game against Georgia Southern on Friday night, they were all watching the Oklahoma State-Iowa State game.
They each wanted to have control of their destiny put back in their own hands, and that's exactly what happened.
Take this tweet from Barrett Jones last night. "BarrettAJones: Absolute mayhem in hotel capstone. Everyone in the halls hugging each other. Now WE control our destiny!"
Or this tweet from Phelon Jones. "DaPhenom9: I can only thank God for a second chance at the national championship"
Or this last one from Cody Mandell, the punter for Alabama. "CodyMandell29: And the hotel goes crazy!!!!!!!!!!"
This was never about style points, as some know-nothing authors wanted to convince people; it was about wins and losses, and now, those factors have fallen Alabama's way.
Control is now back in their hands, and they aren't about to let that opportunity slip through their fingers again.
So Auburn has no chance of ruining their party plans for the BCS.
