Robert Griffin III Video: Watch Baylor Star's Incredible Tipped TD Pass
Robert Griffin III could not seem to make a mistake yesterday.
He went 21 for 34 passing and found himself racking up 479 yards and four touchdowns without an interception.
While he had a great game, Griffin III had a bit of luck on his side, too.
Midway through the third-quarter, the Baylor Bears were trailing the heavily favored Oklahoma Sooners and Griffin III had his team backed up deep in their own territory.
On 2nd-and-13, the Bears took a long shot down the middle of the field intended for Tevin Reese. It hit him in the helmet and hands. The ball then floated like a wounded duck in the air for 20 yards towards the defense’s side of the field.
What usually is an easy interception for the defense turned out to be an 87-yard Kendall Wright touchdown as the young man was able to miraculously come down with the ball.
This would prove to be one of the most important scores of the game and helped swing momentum in Baylor’s favor. They were able to upset the BCS-bound Sooners and this TD shattered their national title hopes.
His team tried to downplay it like it was no big deal.
"Another day at the office for Robert," coach Art Briles said. "He’s been doing that for three or four years. When the ball’s in his hand, he’s going to make good things happen, because he’s very intelligent, very passionate and very gifted."
RGIII may be all of those things, but wins over the No. 5 team in the nation don’t grow on trees.
He is a now a legitimate Heisman contender after having a few quiet weeks and has put himself and his team back on the map.
