Week 11 Waiver Wire: Grab These Players Before Someone Else Does

Professor BushNov 18, 2011

A key waiver wire pickup might just give you the boost needed to make the playoffs in your fantasy league. Titus Young and Matt Leinart head the list of players you need to look at this week.

Wayne Gretzky once said that you shouldn't go where the puck has been, instead you should go where the puck will be. The same idea holds for the waiver wire. You need to find a player that has not been hot, but is going to get hot soon.

In order to make the list, a player must be available in at least 75 percent of Yahoo! fantasy leagues. The availability number of each player is shown in the heading of each slide.

Happy hunting!

Titus Young (Available in 95 Percent of Leagues)

1 of 5

Rookie Titus Young of the Detroit Lions had 150 pass receptions and 23 touchdowns in his last two years at Boise State. With Calvin Johnson in the lineup, the Lions have been bringing Young along slowly.

But he has had 11 receptions in the Lions' last two games, so he is now being targeted more than earlier in the year. As the season goes on, we can count on him getting more of the passes that earlier were going to Nate Burleson.

If you are in a keeper league, he would also make a great rookie keeper.

Matt Leinart (Available in 91 Percent of Leagues)

2 of 5

Arizona Cardinals' fans will be chuckling at this one. Nevertheless, Matt Leinart of the Houston Texans should have enough experience and supporting cast to do well during Matt Schaub's absence, however long that will be.

The Texans have a solid 1-2 running back combination. Top wide receiver Andre Johnson is expected to return to the lineup soon.

There are multiple injuries among starting quarterbacks throughout the league. This has resulted in a thinning of the quarterback waiver wire.  As soon as Leinart has one good start, managers will be rushing to pick him up. Beat them to the punch and pick him up now.

Michael Jenkins (Available in 75 Percent of Leagues)

3 of 5

Michael Jenkins is the leading receiver for the Minnesota Vikings but has not received a lot of fantasy attention. This is probably because of Minnesota's quarterback situation. As Christian Ponder gains more experience, his pass-completion percentage should increase and Jenkins' production should improve.

This week the Vikings play the Oakland Raiders, who have been giving up almost 380 yards per game. Jenkins could be in for a good week.

Randall Cobb (Available in 88 Percent of Leagues)

4 of 5

If you watched the very first game of this season, you know who Randall Cobb is. Otherwise, you might not since he is overshadowed by his teammates.

He has three touchdowns for the Green Bay Packers this year: a 108-yard kickoff return, an 80-yard punt return and a 61-yard pass. This is the kind of explosive player you'd like to have on your team.

Eric Weems (Available in 98 Percent of Leagues)

5 of 5

This last one is a pure hunch. Last year during the regular season, Eric Weems of the Atlanta Falcons returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns. In the playoff game against the Green Bay Packers, he ran back a kickoff for 102 yards.

I'm thinking that you can't keep that kind of speed and talent bottled up for very long. Look for Weems to break out with a few long runs soon. He might make your week or even your season.
