SEC Basketball: Top 5 Players After Week 1
We are a little over a week into the 2011/2012 college basketball season.
Five players in particular have started the season strong for their teams.
The SEC has some of the youngest impact players in the country. The question is have those young freshmen done enough at the beginning of the year to make this list?
#1 Trae Golden, Tennessee
1 of 5Sophomore Trae Golden of Tennessee has played in only one game so far this year. In the game, though, he dropped 29 points to go with six rebounds. Even though it's only one game, Golden has put himself at the top of this list, at least for now.
#2 Arnett Moultrie, Mississippi State
2 of 5Arnett Moultrie of Mississippi State is making his presence felt. After sitting out last year. The UTEP transfer has started hot in the SEC. Moultrie is averaging 16.3 points per game, to go along with 12.7 rebounds per game.
#3 Anthony Davis, Kentucky
3 of 5The freshman is pacing the Wildcats in points at 18.5 a game. He also is averaging eight rebounds a game. The Wildcats are off to a 2-0 start and Davis looks like the real deal so far.
#4 Tony Mitchell, Alabama
4 of 5The junior is leading the Crimson Tide this year. Mitchell is averaging 14.5 points a game, while grabbing 9.5 boards a game. Alabama will ride Mitchell and his teammates all the way to tourney this year.
#5 Patric Young, Florida
5 of 5No matter what anybody wants to say, Patric Young will be a force for the Gators this year. Young is averaging a double-double right know. His 13.0 PPG and 11.0 RPG are not leading the league, but he is an absolute force for Florida.
