UFC: Michael Bisping Says Rooting for Dan Henderson Makes Him Look Better
This Saturday, 41-year-old Dan Henderson makes his return to the UFC for the first time since 2009. Henderson will challenge former light heavyweight champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in a fight where the winner will most likely be crowned as the No. 1 contender.
Many fighters around the UFC have been making their predictions about the fight, including Henderson's last opponent in the UFC, middleweight Michael Bisping.
The two coached against each other on The Ultimate Fighter and met at UFC 100 to settle the score. Henderson would be victorious as he put an end to Bisping's undefeated streak, with one of the greatest knockouts in UFC history.
After knocking the 32-year-old unconscious, Henderson finished with a vicious hammer fist to seal the deal.
Many praised Henderson for finally putting an end to Bisping's trash talk that went on during the filming of the show.
When Bisping was asked who he thought would win this weekend at UFC 139, he surprisingly gave the edge to Henderson, because in the end, it makes him look better.
"Everyone knows what happened with me and Henderson," said Bisping. "So I always root for Henderson because it makes me look better. It redeems me slightly if he continues to knock people out."
Bisping would go on to say that Henderson would win due to the fact that he has been "knocking everyone out," including Fedor Emelianenko and Rafael Cavalcante, to capture the Strikeforce light heavyweight title.
"That said, you can never rule out Shogun. The guy's a beast. It's going to be a great fight, but I'm leaning towards Henderson."
Although the chances of Henderson and Bisping meeting again seem slim, as the only middleweight fight Henderson wants is Anderson Silva, it would be interesting to see if a rematch would bring about the same result.
