Hope Solo DWTS: How Did She Stack Up to Other Dancing Athletes?
Hope Solo's elimination on Dancing with the Stars was long overdue, but she and dancing partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy saw things a little bit different.
Despite being just one episode short of the season finale, the pair had no intention of making a graceful exit. Well, why start being graceful now?
Solo and Chmerkovskiy have been making a stink all season about their scores, and Solo had this to say about what would become her final scores of the season: "Sevens? The same thing I got in week one. Kiss my booty. The scores at this point, the judges at this point mean nothing."
The pair were also overheard swearing about the judges while they awaited their second set of scores.
Well, Solo may be one heck of a sore loser, but her overall finish was pretty good. Let's see how it stacks up against past performances by participants from the sports world.
10th Place: Kenny Mayne, ESPN Reporter
1 of 10ESPN's Kenny Mayne participated in Season 2 of Dancing with the Stars and was eliminated first…unfortunately.
What Mayne lacked in dancing ability, he made up for in sarcasm and a healthy dose of his trademark off-color humor.
9th Place: Floyd Mayweather Jr., Boxer
2 of 10Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. competed on Season 5 of Dancing with the Stars and finished in ninth place.
He may have failed to connect with the audience because Mayweather actually received solid scores from the judges the week he was eliminated from the competition; the viewer vote is what sent him home.
8th Place: Mark Cuban, Dallas Mavericks Owner
3 of 10The billionaire owner of the Dallas Mavericks, Mark Cuban, competed on Season 5 of Dancing with the Stars and finished in eighth place.
Cuban lasted longer than most people thought he would, and despite being recognized as the unhinged owner yelling at NBA refs, he left a good impression with everyone he met on the show.
Cuban also walked away from the show 34 pounds lighter.
7th Place: Michael Irvin, Retired NFL
4 of 10Retired NFL star Michael Irvin competed on Season 9 of Dancing with the Stars and finished in seventh place.
Irvin failed to impress early on but managed to improve week to week and said he was happy to have made it seven weeks on the show.
6th Place: Rick Fox, Retired NBA
5 of 10Retired NBA player Rick Fox competed on Season 11 of Dancing with the Stars and was eliminated during a double elimination, finishing in sixth place.
Fox and his partner performed well, but thought they might have gotten lost in the pack.
5th Place: Kurt Warner, Retired NFL
6 of 10Retired NFL quarterback Kurt Warner competed on Season 11 of Dancing with the Stars and finished in fifth place.
Warner took the news of his elimination like a champion though, saying backstage after his elimination, "It was unfair. We felt for a long time that we should have gotten better scores than we did, so we're disappointed."
Come on dude.
4th Place: Hope Solo, U.S. Soccer
7 of 10U.S. soccer star Hope Solo competed on Season 13 of Dancing with the Stars and was mercifully eliminated in fourth place.
Solo's overall popularity was on full display as her horrifying dancing week-to-week was overlooked by the viewing audience. Girl can't dance to save her life, but the fact that she was just one episode shy of the finale speaks volumes about her popularity and likability.
3rd Place: Erin Andrews, ESPN Reporter
8 of 10National treasure Erin Andrews competed on Season 10 of Dancing with the Stars and finished in third place.
Andrews performed exceptionally well all season and may have even won had she been on a different season. Unfortunately, Olympic figure skater Evan Lysacek and Pussy Cat Doll Nicole Scherzinger were just too tough to overcome.
2nd Place: Jason Taylor, Miami Dolphins
9 of 10Dolphins linebacker Jason Taylor competed in Season 6 of Dancing with the Stars and made it to the season finale before losing to Olympic figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi.
Taylor was one of the favorites throughout the season and never had a down week.
1st Place: Hines Ward, Pittsburgh Steelers
10 of 10Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward competed on Season 12 of Dancing with the Stars and placed first.
Ward was an early favorite on the show, and he and his partner earned the first perfect 10's of the season.
