UFC 139 Predictions: 5 Fights That Will End in a Knockout
The UFC will be taking its talents to San Jose, Calif., on Nov. 19, 2011 for what has potential to be one of the most exciting fight cards of the entire year.
UFC 139 will air live in front of a sold-out HP Pavilion beginning at 6:00 p.m. PT and 9:00 p.m. ET.
The main card will be headlined around former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, who will square off against dangerous 205-pounder Dan Henderson.
Also featured on the main card is legend Wanderlei Silva who will meet Cung Le in a middleweight showdown.
And, while UFC 139 promises to be entertaining, there will be some fights more exciting than others.
So, the following slides display five fights that will end in knockout at UFC 139.
Let's take a look.
Michael McDonald vs. Alex Soto
1 of 5While Michael McDonald will be entering the Octagon for just the third time in his mixed martial arts career, his opponent, Alex Soto, will be making his UFC debut.
When action begins on Nov. 19, this bantamweight bout has potential to be one of the more exciting fights of the night.
McDonald will more than likely come out swinging for the fences in attempts of overwhelming Soto as he may be timid in his debut.
Soto needs to be careful early, as McDonald has knocked out seven opponents in just 13 of his wins.
Chances are, Soto could very well be his eighth victim.
Ryan Bader vs. Jason Brilz
2 of 5Ryan Bader and Jason Brilz will step foot inside the Octagon on Nov. 19 on the worst stretch of their mixed martial arts careers.
This can only mean that both Bader and Brilz will be looking to make a statement when they touch gloves in their light heavyweight bout.
Bader has knocked out nearly half his opponents when he's declared victorious, as he has a total of five KO's over the course of his career.
And, while Brilz doesn't usually knock his opponent out, it doesn't mean that he can't, as he's also totaled five wins via knockout.
UFC fans across the globe can expect this bout to end by way of knockout.
Martin Kampmann vs. Rick Story
3 of 5Martin Kampmann will take on Rick Story in a welterweight showdown when action begins in San Jose, Calif., on Nov. 19.
This 170-pound square off is one of the more unpredictable bouts of the evening, as Rick Story has never been knocked out in his mixed martial arts career.
However, Kampmann is one of the better knockout artists in the welterweight division, as he's been declared victorious seven times by way of knockout.
Fortunately for Story, when Kampmann is defeated, it's usually from being knocked out.
Fans have reason to be excited for this fight, as there's a great possibility of seeing a knockout.
Wanderlei Silva vs. Cung Le
4 of 5While there aren't too many certainties remaining in Wanderlei Silva's career, he is guaranteed at least one more fight when he meets Cung Le at UFC 139.
This middleweight bout screams "knockout," as Silva and Cung have combined for 29 career victories by way of knockout.
And, while Silva may be one of the greatest knockout artists of all time, he's also proven to be on the other end of the blow as he's been knocked out six times himself.
While Cung has yet to step foot inside the Octagon, he is one of the most dangerous strikers in mixed martial arts today.
A knockout is almost certain to happen.
Mauricio "Shogun" Rua vs. Dan Henderson
5 of 5Mauricio "Shogun" Rua will look to continue his recent success when he takes on hard-hitting Dan Henderson at UFC 139.
While a decision may be in the realm of possibilities in this light heavyweight main event, there's an exceptional chance this fight won't make the judge's scorecards.
Rua has been one of the best knockout artists since entering mixed martial arts in November 2002 as he's total 17 career victories by knockout.
And if Henderson can somehow finish off Rua, it wouldn't be the first time he's knocked out a world-class opponent.
Over the course of his career, Henderson's knocked out Fedor Emelianenko, Michael Bisping and Wanderlei Silva.
UFC fans can expect this highly anticipated main event to end in excitement.
