Alabama Football: Who's the Tide's Most Likely BCS Bowl Matchup?
The Alabama Crimson Tide were national championship contenders when the season started. After an 8-0 start, it looked as those dreams were going to become a reality. Then, Alabama went up against another top team in the LSU Tigers and lost in an overtime thriller.
Although the Crimson Tide have a loss on their record, they are still the No. 3 team in the country and have a chance for a rematch in the national championship against LSU.
In order for Alabama to make the national championship, they'll need to win out and get help from other teams. Losses from Oklahoma State and Oklahoma would help Alabama's case, but they still have a chance without help.
A loss from Stanford and Boise State last weekend really helped out the Crimson Tide.
Assuming the season ended today, Alabama would end up in the Sugar Bowl and would probably take on the Houston Cougars. Boise State was going to be Alabama's opponent, but a loss against the TCU Horned Frogs eliminated those chances.
Houston has one of the top offenses in the country led by quarterback Case Keenum, who has been one of the most consistent quarterbacks over the last five years. He has even moved his way up into the Heisman conversation this season.
This game would really test Houston's offense against the Crimson Tide's stifling defense, but considering they are from the C-USA, Alabama should come out victorious.
Alabama can still make the BCS national championship, but right now it looks like a Sugar Bowl berth is where they will end up.
