Week 11 Waiver Wire: Revealing the NFL's Best-Kept Secrets

Andrea HangstNov 14, 2011

Two players residing on the margins of the fantasy football world are actually great additions for Week 11.

They are strong players who will have an immediate and significant impact on your team, and with the fantasy playoff season quickly approaching, any potential advantage is worth your examination if not a roster spot.

RB Kendall Hunter, San Francisco 49ers (vs. Arizona Cardinals)

Starting Niners running back Frank Gore did not play in the second half of his team's Week 10 game against the New York Giants, suffering from ankle and knee injuries. While Gore isn't scheduled for an MRI and should play against the Cardinals next week, that doesn't mean you should avoid adding Hunter to your fantasy roster.

Hunter had six rushes for 40 yards and a touchdown after taking over for Gore in a game in which the Niners didn't focus as much on the run. He's rushed 54 times on the year, for 257 yards and two scores, and has five catches for 78 additional yards.

With Gore likely getting a lighter workload heading into the Niners' inevitable playoff appearance, Hunter will be on the field for more and more snaps. He's an effective rusher, not much of a downgrade from Gore and doesn't have his injury issues.

Hunter is more than just a handcuff for Gore; he has fantasy starting potential, especially against the Cardinals in Week 11 with Gore dinged up and the postseason in their sights.

WR Damian Williams, Tennessee Titans (at Atlanta Falcons)

The Titans' Damian Williams is quietly but convincingly making a case for himself to usurp Nate Washington as quarterback Matt Hasselbeck's primary target.

He had five catches for 107 yards and a score in his team's win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 10 and a total of 23 receptions for 300 yards and four touchdowns on the season.

The majority of those yards have come in the last five weeks, as he continues to prove both reliable and valuable to the Titans passing offense, one that has still struggled to find a way to produce without starter Kenny Britt.

Atlanta is certainly susceptible to the big passing play, and with Williams emerging as Hasselbeck's go-to deep threat, he's worth not only an add but a start in Week 11 if you're in a three-receiver or a 12-plus team league.
