Penn State Scandal: 3 Players That Would Realistically Transfer If Allowed
The NCAA has always had strict restrictions on student-athletes transferring, but they would more than likely make an exception for Penn State. As we all know, former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky has been accused of allegedly molesting young kids. That later resulted in the firing of head coach Joe Paterno.
With everything going on at Penn State, it would be fair to let the players leave if they choose to do so. This scandal is going to set this program back for several years, and it's really not the players fault, so they shouldn't suffer.
Here are a few players that would probably transfer if they had the opportunity.
Running back Silas Reed
Reed only had a few offers coming out of high school, so naturally, he would have picked the best university in Penn State. But after being the Nittany Lions' workhorse on offense and rushing for over 1,000 yards and averaging five yards a carry, the options should open up. He's rushed for over 100 yards in six games this season and has scored seven touchdowns.
Defensive back Adrian Amos
Amos was one of the top recruits for the Nittany Lions last season, and he has made an impact this year with 11 tackles and one interception. He is considered a shutdown corner and will be a force for whatever team he ends up on. He has a nose for the football and can be a physical corner when needed, as he doesn't shy away from contact. Amos had several other offers on the table, and it wouldn't be hard for him to find somewhere else to play next season.
Quarterback Rob Bolden
Bolden was already looking to leave earlier this season, but it never happened. He has been a serious disappointment this year, throwing four interceptions to one touchdown, but he is only a freshman. He is a talented quarterback and just needs more experience. He had offers from Oregon, Wisconsin and Virginia Tech, among others. He has the raw talent to be able to go somewhere else and probably earn more playing time than he's seen this season.
