BCS Rankings: Which Teams Aren't Getting Enough Love from Voters?
When a team isn't ranked where it believes it should be, there are two places they usually look: the voters and the computers. Sometimes there is a pretty sizable difference between the two components of the BCS rankings, and that's one of the main reasons it catches so much flack.
Here are three teams that aren't getting enough respect from poll voters.
No. 12 South Carolina Gamecocks
South Carolina was the last team to knock off Georgia and picked up a solid, albeit narrow, win over Florida on Saturday. It's been a struggle offensively since losing star running back Marcus Lattimore, and voters may allow that to weigh heavily when they submit their ballot.
However, as long as they keep winning, voters should reward that. The Gamecocks have only lost to Arkansas and Auburn and are a Georgia loss away from playing in the SEC Championship Game. That's enough to be considered a top-10 team.
Computer Average: No. 10
No. 13 Kansas State Wildcats
Kansas State's only losses came against national title contenders Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. The Wildcats have knocked off Baylor, Texas A&M and Texas Tech, which is the only team to be either of the Oklahoma powerhouses so far.
Collin Klein has been fantastic all season and put all of his dual-threat skills on display in Saturday's quadruple overtime win over the Aggies. With a road game against Texas in Week 12 to help build their résumé, the voters might finally become more in line with the computers, which love Kansas State.
Computer Average: No. 7
No. 22 Baylor Bears
Baylor is an interesting case. The Bears' only losses were road games against Kansas State, Texas A&M and Oklahoma, all of which were ranked at the time. On the flip side, an argument can be made they haven't beaten anybody of substance since TCU in Week 1.
Still, the computers see something in Baylor the voters clearly don't. The Bears are ranked 25th in the Harris Interactive poll and are unranked in the USA Today poll. But the emotionless computers think Robert Griffin and Co. at a top-15 squad.
One side will be proven correct based on Baylor's performance against Oklahoma on Saturday.
