Liverpool FC: 11 Players Described in One Word
Every player has a stereotype. Cristiano Ronaldo: the stepover man, the long range shooter. Messi: dribbler. Beckham: king of free kicks.
If you had to describe Dirk Kuyt or Steven Gerrard in one word, which word would you use?
I'm going to show you my choices for 11 players with a brief justification. If you disagree, comment! If you'd like, do your own.
Pepe Reina
1 of 11Reliable.
Makes sense—Pepe Reina has become one of the most consistent keepers in the world.
Jamie Carragher
2 of 11Sacrificial.
I wouldn't want to count the amount of times Jamie Carragher has put his body on the line for Liverpool.
Daniel Agger
3 of 11Disappointing.
The reason I use this word is simple: Agger is a great defender, but he always has something ruling him out of contention to play.
It's disappointing to witness.
Jose Enrique
4 of 11Saviour.
The man who finally solved Liverpool's left-back issue.
Lucas Leiva
5 of 11Determined.
The epitome of the word I feel. From being criticised week in, week out, Lucas has greatly improved to become one of our best midfielders.
Also, his bullish style of play appears to be quite determined.
Steven Gerrard
6 of 11Complete.
With all words I could have used to describe Captain Fantastic, I've decided on "complete," as his game is missing nothing.
He's been there, done that. He is, in another word, Liverpool.
Jordan Henderson
7 of 11Exciting.
Jordan Henderson has come under a lot of criticism recently, but the fact is we're paying for potential.
In my opinion, Henderson certainly has it.
Dirk Kuyt
8 of 11Reliable.
You always know what you're going to get from the Dutchman: passion, good finishing and a work rate to be admired.
Andy Carroll
9 of 11Frustrating.
When signed, I was expectant. I made exception for injury, but he still hasn't found his form yet and it's been nearly a year.
Luis Suarez
10 of 11Exciting.
Luis Suarez has breathed a breath of fresh air into Liverpool Football Club.
Passion and skill are the order of the day; every time he gets the ball, I expect something to happen.
Stewart Downing
11 of 11Unlucky.
Zero assists. Zero goals. Stewart Downing has hit the woodwork twice and seen his crosses being pushed onto the bar by strikers.
It's not really going his way.
