College Football Scores: LSU's Struggles Vs. WKU Will Kill No. 1 Ranking
The LSU Tigers are only up 14-7 at halftime over Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, and with the Oklahoma State Cowboys defeating the Texas Tech Raiders 66-6, their No. 1 ranking could be in jeopardy.
Oklahoma State hasn’t played as many great teams as the Tigers, but the Tigers only being up by seven points at the half against the Hilltoppers is pretty ridiculous.
I understand that the Tigers are coming off of an emotional victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide, but seven points? I had a feeling the Tigers might be sluggish out of the gate, but I didn’t envision this.
While it is shocking, let’s not forget these Tigers have another half to play, and they are more than capable of blowing this thing wide open.
I understand that what LSU has done this year is unmatched, and no other team can say that they’ve had a tougher schedule than the Tigers. I understand that, but you can’t expect every voter to understand that.
I thought the Tigers game against Alabama last week was a masterpiece, but unfortunately, I was in the minority. People love offenses these days, and that’s why I believe Oklahoma State has a really good chance of jumping LSU.
If the Tigers continue to struggle to put points on the board, don’t be surprised if more votes go the Cowboys way.
In my opinion, I prefer a dominant defense over a dominant offense any day. It’s what I was taught when I was a young boy to when I played football to now writing about it.
Unfortunately for the Tigers, the world just doesn’t think like that anymore, and they all marvel at a team that can post gaudy stats.
Oklahoma State represents the kind of play that the majority of “football fans” love to see, so it’s essential for the Tigers to have a much more productive second half against the Hilltoppers.
