TNA Turning Point: Predicting the Winners

Kyle SchadlerNov 12, 2011

Tomorrow night is TNA’s latest pay-per-view, Turning Point.

Coming off the heels of a great PPV in Bound for Glory and some very good weeks of Impact Wrestling, this show should not disappoint.

With nine matches and five out of their six titles on the line, TNA Turning Point is looking like a great show.

So let’s get started!

Crimson vs. Matt Morgan

1 of 9

I found it funny when Matt Morgan called this a dream match. When it comes to dream matches, this match is nowhere on my list.

Anyway, this match has been in the making since late August, when Samoa Joe injured Crimson.

Morgan came to his defense and entered into a feud with Joe. Crimson then returned after Sacrifice and entered into the feud as well.

They had a pretty good triple-threat match at Bound for Glory, which Crimson won after pinning Joe. Morgan and Crimson were allies when it came to Joe and only gave us a taste of them fighting during the match.

A few weeks ago, Morgan called out Crimson and challenged him to a match, which the undefeated wrestler obviously accepted.

This is definitely a match the TNA fans want to see, but I wouldn’t call it a “dream match.”

Crimson will be putting his undefeated streak on the line against someone with the same size and power. His streak may be in jeopardy.

Who’ll win? I think it’s too soon to see the undefeated streak broken, so I’m giving it to Crimson.

Winner: Crimson

Rob Van Dam vs. Christopher Daniels: No Disqualification Match

2 of 9

These two had a match after Bound for Glory that Rob Van Dam won after Daniels hit him with some tools causing a disqualification. This match was then set up.

Last week, Daniels was talking trash backstage when Van Dam came up and attacked. RVD got the upper hand and Daniels ran away.

This past Thursday, Van Dam helped A.J. Styles get the win against the Fallen Angel when he tried to attack Styles with a screwdriver.

Christopher Daniels makes a great cowardly heel, and I think it will lead to his victory so early in a feud that came out of nowhere.

Winner: Christopher Daniels

Mr. Anderson and Abyss vs. Bully Ray and Scott Steiner

3 of 9

Mr. Anderson and Bully Ray have been feuding since July. They have had many battles, including what was the match of the night at Bound for Glory.

It doesn’t seem like these two will ever settle their rivalry.

Abyss was a founding member of Immortal, but when he lost the X-Division Championship to Brian Kendrick, he was put in the Immortal doghouse.

Everyone from then-leader Hulk Hogan to newer member Scott Steiner would abuse Abyss physically and mentally. No one was more brutal than Bully Ray, though.

When Hulkamania returned at Bound for Glory, Abyss kind of disappeared for a few weeks.

This past Thursday, he returned as Jeff Hardy’s and Mr. Anderson’s partner as they fought Jeff Jarrett, Bully Ray and Scott Steiner. One Black Hole Slam to Steiner later and the faces picked up the win.

Tomorrow night, Abyss makes his return to PPV, as he teams with Anderson to take on Ray and Steiner.

Immortal is very weak. They lost their leader Hulk Hogan and now Eric Bischoff and Ric Flair are running the heel stable.

The problem is, though, they seem to be more focused on Eric’s son Garret than the troubles of Immortal as a whole.

I don’t see the group entering 2012, and I think we’ll be seeing its members losing time and time again before it implodes.

Winners: Mr. Anderson and Abyss

Jeff Hardy vs. Jeff Jarrett

4 of 9

At the TNA Victory Road PPV in March, Jeff Hardy screwed up. He embarrassed himself, the company, the title, the business and the fans that supported him for years despite his demons.

He disappeared from TNA for six months before returning in September.

He started to apologize to everyone. First it was the fans and they were quick to forgive him. He then went to various wrestlers. Some told him to go to hell while others forgave him but would kick his ass if he got out of line again.

It was a good, emotional storyline that ended abruptly thanks to Jeff Jarrett.

The founder of TNA told Hardy to just pack up and never return while also bringing up Hardy’s past demons, including when he no-showed a PPV event during his first run with the company.

It has led to many brawls between the two over the past few weeks.

This past Thursday, Hardy, along with Mr. Anderson and Abyss, defeated Jarrett and his fellow Immortal members Bully Ray and Scott Steiner.

The Charismatic Enigma has the momentum going into the match, but is it enough to defeat the King of the Mountain?

Having Jeff Hardy win his first PPV match back would be beneficial to the storyline and a great way to get the fans behind him even more.

Winner: Jeff Hardy

Mexican America and Sarita vs. Ink Inc. and Toxxin: Tag Team Titles

5 of 9

This feud is still happening?

They had a pre-show match at Bound for Glory that Mexican America won. Then nothing for three weeks.

This past Thursday, we saw video of a backstage brawl between all four members of Mexican America and Ink Inc. and Toxxin. The faces fought off the heels, but who cares?

This match has no hype, and TNA doesn’t seem to care about this seeing as it only has a backstage brawl to promote it.

If they don’t care, why should I?

I’m happy to see Sarita in a PPV match instead of just seeing her stand there doing nothing, but that’s not enough to get me interested in this match.

I’m flipping a coin.

Winners and New Champions: Ink Inc.

And since Toxxin is there, she gets a notch in her win column as well.

Eric Young vs. Robbie E: Television Title

6 of 9

Are my eyes deceiving me? Is the Television Championship being defended on PPV?

This screams pre-show match to me, though.

Eric Young and Robbie E have been feuding over the TNA Television Championship for a few months. It may be hard to notice that since the feud took a backseat until a few weeks ago.

A couple of months ago, Robbie failed in his attempt to defeat Young, so he and his muscle, Rob Terry, attacked the champ post-match.

Then nothing happened with the feud.

TNA didn’t follow up until a few weeks ago when Robbie once again lost and The Shore attacked EY again post-match.

Last week on Impact Wrestling, Ronnie from the Jersey Shore appeared alongside the champion as backup and the four brawled.

This past Thursday, Ronnie made his in-ring debut and he and Young defeated Robbie and Terry. Now the title is on the line at a PPV event, the first time since who knows when.

While I’m a fan of Eric Young, I’m not a fan of his character. More specifically, his character having a title.

I may be a bit biased in my decision here, but I’m going with a Robbie E victory. Besides, it’s about time this guy actually won a match.

Winner and New Champion: Robbie E

Velvet Sky vs. Gail Kim: Knockout’s Title

7 of 9

Velvet Sky finally fulfilled her dreams when she won the Knockout’s Title at Bound for Glory.

I got to witness it live; it was a hell of a moment.

The problem is, though, that vice president of the Knockout’s Division Karen Jarrett hates her very existence. Karen was livid when Velvet won the title and will do anything to get it off of her.

Cue the new muscle of Karen’s little group.

Gail Kim made her return to TNA and attacked the champion while also crushing the fans with her ego.

Last week, Gail managed to win the Knockout’s Tag Team Titles with Karen’s lackey, Madison Rayne. With that title win, Karen has gotten stronger.

This past Thursday, Gail and Madison retained their newly-won titles against Velvet and Mickie James, giving Gail the momentum going into the match.

TNA seems to be pushing Gail down our throats, but I don’t think that’ll include a reign as Knockout’s Champion, at least not yet.

Right now Karen has all the power, she just needs the singles title to solidify her reign as Knockout queen.

The title is what’s keeping the faces afloat in TNA, and I think it’ll stay on Velvet Sky for a little while longer.

Winner and Still Champion: Velvet Sky

Austin Aries vs. Jesse Sorenson vs. Kid Kash: X-Division Title

8 of 9

Jesse Sorenson and Kid Kash have been feuding since Sorenson debuted and Kash returned. The veteran Kash didn’t like the young Sorenson having the spotlight while he was sitting backstage.

They have had numerous good matches, the most notable happening at Sacrifice.

Austin Aries is the best in the world and will win at all costs. He and Kash have never gone one-on-one in a TNA ring, but they have joined forces.

Last week, Sorenson defeated the X-Division Champion in a non-title match, which surprised both Aries and Kash on commentary.

This past Thursday after Sorenson defeated Zema Ion, Kash appeared with a contract. It was for a triple-threat match with the X-Division Title on the line. It was already signed by the two heels, so Sorenson signed it and the match was official.

The face was then beaten down by the Aries/Kash alliance.

Kid Kash has already cost Jesse Sorenson the X-Division Title when he got a shot after Sacrifice, but now Kash can do it again.

This time, though, he can do it by winning the title himself.

Kash hasn’t held the X-Division Title since 2003 when he defeated Sonny Siaki. Is it Kash’s time to regain the title? I don’t think so.

Logic says that his alliance with champion Austin Aries will crumble and Sorenson will take advantage and win the title, but I don’t see it happening.

A Double will win at all costs.

Winner and Still Champion: Austin Aries

Bobby Roode vs. A.J. Styles: TNA World Title

9 of 9

The Bound for Glory Series was a one-of-a-kind tournament that awarded points for winning a match throughout the summer.

Bobby Roode was at the bottom of the pack for the first month or so. He looked like a long shot to win it, but then he started winning and just wouldn’t stop.

That brought him to the final four at TNA Sacrifice in September where he defeated Gunner, then Bully Ray to become the No.1 contender for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. He was set to face then-champion Kurt Angle at Bound for Glory.

At the show, Angle took the easy way out by grabbing the ropes to get the win and retain his title. Roode and the crowd were extremely disappointed.

The following Thursday on Impact Wrestling, Roode’s partner, James Storm, defeated Angle to win the World Title. Roode would claim he was happy for his partner but jealousy was building up inside.

Two weeks ago, Roode defeated Samoa Joe to become the No.1 contender and last week defeated Storm to win the title in a great match.

To win, though, he smashed a beer bottle over Storm’s head. He finally fulfilled his dream and turned heel in the process.

This past Thursday, Sting granted Storm his rematch, but somebody attacked him backstage. Storm passed out from blood loss and Roode picked up the victory.

So where does A.J. Styles fall into all of this? He challenged Roode to a match as he and Kazarian were checking on Storm. Sting made it official and TNA gave us our World Title match three days before the event.

Having the challenger be a member of Fortune is a great idea, but they should have set up the match more than three days in advance.

This should be a great match, but it could be hindered by Styles’ ankle injury.

I think it’s way too early to take the title off of Roode and that Styles is just a filler until the Bobby Roode/James Storm feud goes into full force.

Winner and Still Champion: Bobby Roode
