Pacquiao vs. Mayweather: Why Floyd Mayweather Is Truly Top Pound-for-Pound Boxer
The biggest debate in any sport is always about who is the best, but in an individual sport like boxing, that argument means much more. And these days, the two boxers everyone talks about are Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Pacquiao will battle Juan Manuel Marquez for the third time on Saturday night, but this isn't the fight boxing fans truly want to watch, as Mayweather is the one guy everyone wants to see go up against Pacquiao.
A fight between "PacMan" and "Pretty Boy Floyd" has been anticipated by boxing fans for years now, and many wonder if it will ever happen.
Everyone has their opinion on who is better, and it will never be settled until the go head-to-head.
However, that doesn't mean a case can't be made for either one.
"Money Mayweather" may run his mouth far too often, but he is hands down the best boxer out there right now.
Looking past who the men are outside of the ring and focusing on what they do in the ring, Mayweather is the best of the best.
Pacquiao has been much better out of the ring in the eyes of the public, although, Mayweather did take a step forward when he tweeted this out after one of boxing's legends passed away.
Back to what they do in the ring, Mayweather cannot be stopped when puts the gloves on.
At 42-0 with 26 KOs, Mayweather is all about winning. To be the best of the best, you have to be a winner, and Mayweather lives to win.
A perfect record gives him one edge over Pacquiao, but it's his speed and flash in the ring that makes him the best.
Sure, if he continues to fizzle late in his career by backing out of fights and taking well over a year to fight again then he will be surpassed as the best.
But at this point in time, Mayweather owns that title because his boxing skills are immeasurable and he dominates his opponents using his mind to out-duel them.
Further proof that Mayweather is better is that he never struggled against Marquez, whereas Pacquiao had a draw and won by a split decision the two times he faced Marquez.
The debate will never be fully put to rest until Pacquiao and Mayweather fight, which is looking like it could very well happen in 2012.
Of course, the outcome of Pacquiao's fight against Marquez will have an impact on whether or not Pacquiao and Mayweather square off against one another.
With his perfect record, Mayweather remains the best boxer out there right now, as he knows he can beat anybody. Yes, even Pacquiao.
