Tom Bradley Penn State: Unfair Firestorm Awaits Interim Head Coach
Would anyone want to be Tom Bradley right now? I sure wouldn't.
While Bradley was at Penn State when the worst parts of this scandal were allegedly taking place, there is nothing to suggest that he did anything wrong, either legally or morally.
It's hard to imagine that Bradley will be at Penn State beyond this season. Between Saturday's game vs. Nebraska and road games against Ohio State and Nebraska, there are three remaining regular season games.
After that, there is a potential Big Ten championship game and then a certain Bowl appearance, assuming they accept that invitation.
After that, it's challenging to imagine anyone currently involved at Penn State will be there for the 2012 season. This is not a situation that's likely to produce much holdover from 2011 to 2012.
Bradley is certainly not a normal interim coach. This situation goes well beyond anything that could ever happen on the field. That's obvious.
Who would want any part of this situation?
From a football perspective, how in the world can any coach be expected to prepare to actually win three football games? Penn State could go 0-3 in this run without all of this distraction.
I can't imagine what Saturday's game at Penn State is going to be like. If it's anything like the images that we saw on Wednesday night/Thursday morning, it will be quite hectic.
The fact is that someone has to coach this team for the remainder of the 2011 season. Bradley is as good of a choice as anyone.
But Bradley is now under a microscope. Anyone who got this job would be under a microscope. This has nothing to do with Bradley himself, but these games are going to be hectic as could possibly be.
Saturday is a home game. What in the world are the two road games going to be like? Use your imagination as to what kind of chants and taunts will be heard.
How do you coach a football team through all of this? We're about to find out if Bradley can. But this is a horrible situation to be a part of.
