Pacquiao vs. Marquez: Don't Waste Your Money on This Fight

Richard LangfordNov 10, 2011

It's not worth $54.95 to watch Manny Pacquiao easily dispatch Juan Marquez on November 12th in Las Vegas.

These two have already had two previous battles. Both of those fights were wildly entertaining, but much has changed since they last fought four years ago, and few expect Manny to meet much resistance in this one.

Bodog Sports has Pac-Man listed as an overwhelming 1/11 favorite in this fight.

What's Changed

Age

Obviously, both fighters are older. This is far more detrimental to Marquez, though, as he is 38, while Pac-Man is 32.

Weight

The last time these two fought it was at the 130-pound weight limit. This fight will be at the 144-pound weight limit.  This is also a much bigger problem for Marquez, as Pacquiao has had no problem fighting at this weight.

Marquez's only previous fight at this weight limit came against Floyd Mayweather a little over two years ago.

Marquez was no match for Mayweather in that fight, and he had a hard time with the extra weight. He looked a little out of shape and slow.

Skills

Manny Pacquiao is different fighter than he was the last time these two fought. He has added a lethal right hand to his arsenal. Juan Marquez is essentially the same fighter, and any changes in his game are going the wrong way.

Marquez has shown decreased speed in recent bouts.

Conclusion

Pacquiao is going to cruise. He is eager to give this series a definitive conclusion, and he will do just that. Pac-Man will knock Marquez out in four.

While it is always entertaining to see a knockout, it is not $55 exciting. Just wait and watch it on YouTube.
